Thanks, Vermonster and Nixon!

*I suppose it's too late to ask Chase for another 10000 URs on my 2013 Freedom? :ppp*

WHOHOO!

Now you're making me want to take a shot at it. But I can't, for the inevitable mortgage.

Good mortgage terms are more important, of course.

For anyone else interested, I got the better offer through a secure message, even though the "Apply Now" link in the 80k+$50 offer page was invalid when I sent my request. The page still existed, though.https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/ihg/ihgsaml80plus

Was anyone auto-upgraded to the new Spire Elite status? I wasn't. I only have 20k of my 80k point bonus counting towards Spire Elite status, and I've spent only a small amount on it, so I have another 53k points to go. Obviously, unless I start to MS (which I don't plan to do) that's not going to happen.

I got the card for other benefits, though, and those are still there. Platinum has survived nerfing pretty well.

Yes.

So you'll be getting the extra 25k points, twice? Once for 2015, and once for 2016?

I haven't (yet) found any reports of people successfully requesting "special treatment" of the signup bonus. Either a person seems to get it automatically or doesn't. Were you lucky? Or you did MS/something else unconventional?

That card is very tempting if I could guarantee the 105,000 points. Seems to be very hit or miss, and I'm not about to run a lot of spending through it. Biggest issue for us is always finding a place that can take a dog for the night. Some hotels are cool about it, others not so much. We could use a service dog in the family, but he would make a pretty shitty one, LOL.

You raise a good point. The IHG and other hotel cards only really make sense if one is basically devoted to the brand. What if where you are going there are no IHG hotels? Or at least no IHG dog friendly hotels? Then the card is useless.

It seems like a very nice card for those who can make use of it, though.
