JP Morgan Select Renewal

Postby thom02099 » Thu May 28, 2015 6:19 pm

Anyone else with a JP Morgan Select Visa with a renewal date in 2015? Anyone get their card renewed already with a date beyond 2015?

Rumour around at various forums was that JP Morgan Chase was going to do away with this card and port current users over to another card, presumably a Chase Sapphire Preferred. My card expires in October 2015. Hoping that the rumours are just that...rumours.
Retired, and in the process of retiring cards!
EQ = 850 EX=849 TU = 850 as of 07/2017

What is it that you prefer about your current card? I expect it has its own special tier of customer service, but it sounds pretty similar to CSP.
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

Hidden TL for the JPM. Looking at consolidating my Chase accounts into one, the JP Morgan Select, as the cards approach renewal. Features for the JPM and the CSP are quite similar.

Primarily looking to dispel or confirm the rumour that JPM is going away in 2015. My message exchanges with Chase about consolidation gave no indication that the JPM card was going away; looking to confirm that with someone who's actually received a new card IN 2015 with an expiration date beyond 2015.

Got it. With all the other high-CL cards you have, I can see the appeal of a hidden account.

Chase can sometimes take a long time to phase out cards - many years after they are closed to new applicants.*

Well, if you do get stuck with just the CSP instead of just the Select, at least you can enjoy the more broadly-defined travel category.

*I saw a TravelPlus not long ago.
