Sallie Mae

Postby pswinontario » Thu Apr 30, 2015 4:00 pm

Hi,

I was just searching about Sallie Mae on google. but what I found , 1 star out of 5 rated by 1200 people.

I am really scared to go for Sallie Mae MasterCard®.

the review was so bad about student loan but not sure about Credit card review.

Please give me some light on Sallie Mae MasterCard® who is now carrying and using it.

Thank u

Yea SM is a shitty company, but the credit card itself is great. I was lucky enough not to have my loans serviced through them. Do not worry about the card, it has great rewards.

Chase Freedom - $5,700
Costco Citi - $13,000
Sallie Mae - $4,000
Chase Sapphire Preferred - $6,000

Amex BCE - $13,000

FICOs: Discover (777), SallieMae (764), Amex (767), Citi (772)
FAKOs: CK- TU (760), EQ (760)

Sallie Mae is a government run Student Loan company.

The Sallie Mae credit card has nothing to do with the student loan company other than the name. The credit card is through Barclay bank.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

I have one. It's a great card if:
1. Your spending stays within the bonus caps.
2. You want to avoid annual fees.
3. You want to avoid complicated (but often lucrative) travel rewards programs.
Those three "ifs" no longer apply to me, so my use of the card will be falling greatly. I'll certainly keep the account open for Amazon and as a gas/grocery nerfing backup.
