Chase Freedom - Visa Signature?

Postby TheSwarm » Mon Apr 20, 2015 11:36 pm

My credit limit has been increased on my Freedom from 4,000 to 10,000. Will it become a Visa Signature?

Have you had the card for more than a year?

Best is to call them. Really can't say it's done automatic

I think you'll find the WEMC benefits you get from Arrival+ more useful.

Edit: Visa Signature benefits are geared towards travel, but travel cards like Arrival+/CSP/PRG tend to offer more in that area. A lot of the "special offers" are easily replicated in other ways, and (in those cases) the only "benefit" Visa Sig offers is advertising space for companies like Merlin Entertainments and hotels.
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

^ This. No telling based solely on the CL. Some get converted, some do not. If you want the Signature then contact Chase and confirm.

Does the Freedom VS have the semi-flexible CL?

I think only some VS cards do, but I'm not sure.

Our freedom does. Our limit was $2700 and we put some big charges through it with no trouble. You do get slammed if you don't pay off the balance over the limit before your statement is due. It was never an issue for us. I just liked running a $3k charge through the card then paying it right off to get the points.

FYI: We were denied a CLI because at the time our payment hadn't posted and it showed we were over the limit. All it took was a recon to get it sorted out.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

It's pretty likely that they'll upgrade the account when they reissue it. They may, or may not, do it before then if you ask.

As one other data point, someone PC'ed a 15-year old Chase account with a 25k CL to a Freedom and got a Platinum.
