CapitalOne Platinum MC PCed to the QuicksilverOne Rewards MC. 2 Questions.

Postby ScoreOnTheRise » Fri Apr 03, 2015 11:11 am

After 7 years with the CapitalOne Platinum MasterCard (with a mere $1K CL) they PCed me to the QuicksilverOne Rewards. Meh!

When I first got this card, my credit score was lousy. Now in the 700's, I feel I should have gotten the Quicksilver rather than the QuicksilverOne. This card is a sock drawer card I use maybe once every few months merely to keep it alive. I've debated just scrapping it, but I keep it open simply for AAoA reasons.

Two questions:

1) Does CO tend to be more generous with CLI on the Quicksilver line than on the Platinum line? If I had a serious card from CO, I'd actually use it.

2) Has anyone PCed from the QuicksilverOne to the Quicksilver. That would be the CO card I'd actually want (with a grown-up CL of course).

Just call executive offices.

I have 2 QS (not QSOne) and a Venture (not VentureOne). Only been with CapOne for 2 years and a credit score below 700.

Unfortunately, you have to be more aggressive with them and that's why getting EO involved is the only solution I have ever experienced. They don't read from a script and they actually understand the concept of credit. Also, they have real underwriters manually review your account, so real changes can actually get done.

Thanks for the prompt feedback. What number did you call to reach the EO?

I don't remember, but you can easily Google it. I know the MyFICO forum has all the major numbers listed.

I hope you'll be closing Credit One soon.

I'd close Capital One, too, if you're not able to PC it to the regular QS.

For sure contact the Executive Office. Just Google "how to contact the Capital One executive office." I don't think posting that info is allowed on the forums.

I recently contacted them and they were great to work with. Much better than Citibank's EO....ugh, Citibank....

I absolutely agree. I'm in the process of closing on a house and right after I have keys in hand, Credit One is getting the ax. It's still open for AAoA reasons.

The Quicksilver Rewards card is a Visa Signature card. If I remember correctly, in order to have the product changed to that you will need to be approved for something around a $5k limit. I believe that most visa signature cards have this requirement.

While it can happen, you might want to call Capital One. I have even heard of them informing someone to do a new app for that card and if they were approved they could transfer their limit (I could have heard incorrectly though).
Main Cards:
Amex BCE
Amex Everyday
Bank of America Cash Rewards
Chase Freedom
Capital One Quicksilver
Citi Thank You Preferred

Spark Cash Back (Business), Amex Plum (Business)

After getting so much love from Chase and Discover, CapOne is now dropped. That Credit One card is also closed.
