Finally, I get my chance to get a credit card, Capital One approved me instantly. Although I wish I gotten the Discover it student card, but I'm happy with Capital One. :ppp
I hope tomorrow it comes in mail...later on after a year I want to consider Chase freedom. Or retry Discover.

Congrats. Capital One was my first card 17 years ago and they have always grown with me and treated me right.

Congrats on the approval!

Do you have a checking account with Chase? If so, you might be able to get a low-limit (as in $500 or $600) Freedom with little or no history. Discover is worth eventually getting, too.
Keeping indefinitely: IHG, SchwabPlat, CSP, Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE, Hyatt
May close or PC: Prestige, Arrival, BrooksBros
AA Platinum converting into Costco

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech
Letting new accounts cool off since May

Thanks. I was a bit worried, they wouldn't accept me and I would have totally would have to choose a secured card. I'm glad I don't have too. lol

I was gonna open one, but I opted for going with a credit union. I should look into opening through Chase soon. I did not knew I could have a possible chance by going that route. I have no credit history, which is why I got denied from Discover it student card. :/

Having a checking account with Chase probably helped me to get a Freedom, but now that I think more about it, my overall experience with Chase checking has not been great. Before I learned more about credit and banking, they switched me from one checking account type to another that had weird fees and I didn't know enough to realize the difference at first.

I have a better account type now, and still use it since there is a local branch where I can make cash deposits. The rewards system also works well for me, making CSP and Freedom major cards. I should look into alternatives, since my CLs are now high enough that I don't need the ability to pay off a card and have the CL free again instantly.

Chase pays effectively zero in interest, but most of my emergency fund is in a brokerage account (at Vanguard) which pays a more reasonable rate on cash deposits.

For those who were approved for any Capital One card, how long did it take you get to receive your card? Just curious.
