go with the sapphire, with the marriott card the point are stuck with marriott.

what i do is I just use my marriott card for the free night and the elite status that comes by just having the card.... and thats about it (hotel only)

Point wise, one gets more points with the the sapphire- in case i need points for my marriott account i just transfer from the sapphire to the marriott
