Attention US Airways Mastercard customers...

Postby jcarte29 » Sat Mar 07, 2015 9:21 am

I received notice last night that my USAMC is going to be an American Airlines Red. While this is not shocking news, given the merger between the two airlines, and they allowed me to register for bonus miles (nice gimmick considering they already had my info) I am curious to ask opinions of other cardmembers (USAir or American) about the Red card?

While I was on the phone I asked if I was at least getting a credit limit increase with the change, she kindly told me everything I have is simply transferring over, and to ask for a CLI they will hard pull me (I declined to go further with that). She did say they automatically review accounts and grant CLI for qualifying accounts (I can't see how mine isn't, so I'll keep the board posted on changes)

I'm still researching the new card, that should arrive sometime after the first of April. So far I'm not impressed from what I've found, but I hope someone here can offer insight.

I just saw a picture of the Red Aviator card; not bad but that Silver Aviator is pretty good looking. I would get the Barclaycard version over the weird Citi card with the info on the back.

Will yours still be a World MasterCard?

I believe so, the packet mentioned no foreign transaction fees (not sure if that qualifies it as a world card, wouldn't make a difference to me, i don't travel abroad)

I would be *very* interested in upgrading to the silver, if it meant a higher CL or extra perks (apparently im losing the annual us airways pass in lieu of discounted companion ticket i think)

Great questions, and keep the feedback comin! :)

Opened up my app today and found that the conversion has been completed, so I'm guessing the new card is in the mail. As advertised, everything came over 1:1 miles and (unfortunately) the credit line. April marks 6 months open, now that it's paid off I'm hopin I can push for a CLI on it. (At least to match my VISA Signature).

I need to call them. Mine is also showing my card as the aviator red now. However, I have not yet received the signup bonus for the U.S. airways card. I want to make sure the signup bonus doesn't get lost in the transition, even though my dividend miles and AAdvantage accounts are linked.

Well this is awesome! I went online and requested a CLI (5k more) on my US Airways (soon to be Aviator) and online it told me decision was pending. I was pretty bummed thinkin it's just a nice way of saying "thanks, no thanks" but got a call about 15 minutes later just to verify the information I submitted knowing it was gonna be a HP. He had nothin further, approved it right away.

My 6th statement cut yesterday so that was my motivation to ask for it. It was the first I attempted with this card. :)

Definitely appreciate their loyalty. Now if only Chase will show the same LOL.
