Product Change question

Postby pac4toon » Fri Mar 06, 2015 2:53 pm

Is it possible to do a product change from CSP to Marriot Rewards? If so, will Chas still give me their introductory offer? Thanks.
In my wallet:
CHASE Freedom Unlimited / AMEX Hilton Honors

In my sock drawer:
CHASE Freedom / AMEX Blue Cash Everyday

CSP customer service would be the place to go to find out. They have always been extremely helpful to me. My guess, however, would be that they will not product change between different categories... For example you may be able to do CSP to Freedom or Slate to Freedom, but probably not from a UR card to a hotel rewards card. Also, there is almost always no signup bonus associated with a product change unless it is a targeted upgrade offer... Your best bet would probably be to apply for the Marriott Rewards card and then move the credit line from the CSP to the Marriott card. That they almost certainly will do for you, but best bet is to call CSP customer service...

Hey thanks for the input. I'll be calling CSP. It seems
I've lost 'use' for my CSP and gonna go try the Marriot Card.

I'm curious as to why you'd want to change. The CSP/Freedom combo is one I really like, and (I think) you can access some Hawaiian Airlines flights through Korean Air and Virgin Atlantic (Chase partners). Marriott points can be less lucrative in general, but there is the free night.
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

I rarely use my CSP and Freedom card. The card that gets the most use is my AmexBCE and my Hawaiian Airlines WEMC. I really do not have to apply for another card it's just that I've been doing "staycations" and the Marriott is one of the hotels I like. (And the free the night is not so bad haha) I have the AmexHiltonHonors as well and I am about to use the points too. lol

I'd do a separate app for the Marriott. Rewards rate for the Marriott is around .84% while the CSP is 1% plus 1% is the standard nowadays. UR is so flexible and I think worth more than any rewards program in the chase line up.
Amex Blue Cash Everyday 7/01
Amex SPG Business 4/17
BOA Cash Rewards Visa Sig 6/07
Chase Freedom Visa Sig 12/13
Chase Freedom Unlimited Visa Sig 7/13
Chase Ink Cash Visa Sig 5/16
Chase Ink Preferred Visa Sig 9/17
Chase Sapphire Reserve Visa Inf 2/17
Discover It 1/14
IHG RC World MC 12/14

People's situations, preferences and priorities differ and can even change over time. You can't assume that what one likes is what others like.

Platinum Delta Skymiles $12,900
Marriott Rewards Premier $12,000
Discover IT $12,000
