I got a HP on my CLI after 3 months but thats bc i requested one due to a future big purchase. Went from 10k to 17.5k.
Said i needed it for renovations. Probably needed a little more than that but i thought it might be stretching it if i asked for more. Female credit analyst was very nice.

I did pretty much the same thing when I was approved. I was approved for 5K but called in before the card arrived and asked asked for 10K. The analyst asked why I needed it and I told him that I needed more due to my upcoming vacation and that I didn't want to max it out with a 5K limit. The analyst I talked was also very polite about it.

If soft, did you use the reputed trick (I haven't tried it) of first asking for an APR reduction?

According to the rep, there was no pull at all.

... and the rep positioned it as some special thing for me after I expressed my concern about a hard pull saying, "Normally we would do a hard credit pull, but for you today we won't pull your credit at all and base this on your payment history with us."

Late to the party, but wanted to chime in.

I got an auto-CLI (from $5k to $10k) after exactly a year and a half of having the account. Double-checked my account-open date, and the auto CLI was one day shy of exactly 1.5 years. I'm wondering if the CLI fairy comes through every six months or something, and this was the first time I was eligible.

Had requested a couple CLIs in the past, but backed out when they said it would be a hard pull. Was so excited when I logged in today and saw the new limit! I use this card for travel, and had hit dangerously close to the $5k limit several times when buying several tickets at a time for group trips.
Cards:

-Capital One Quicksilver
-Barclaycard Arrival (no AF)
- US Bank (no rewards)
-IHG

At one time, a Barclay's analyst mentioned that your account needed to have x amount (can't remember how many, but I want to say 10 or 12) of payments made before a CLI would be "qualified" (I guess for the auto kind).

So in other words, if you had the card 6 months but barely used it, that wouldn't qualify. Sounds like they want a few payments a month out of people for several months. This is just one CSR and they could have been wrong, but makes sense to me.

Over my 20 statements I made 34 payments, not including award redemptions for statement credits. A lot of those payments are from a time when I'd make multiple payments per month just because I found it easy to pay off all current balances at once. Now, I find it easier to just pay once.

I was originally approved for $2,500 and around the 9th month mark, I called in and asked for an increase of $7,500 and they approved it over the phone. I am pretty certain that they are pretty good about giving CLI's. They run a soft pull credit inquiry, so it doesn't affect your credit either. It wouldn't hurt to call and manually ask a representative to give you a line increase. I would just wait a 4-5 months before doing that.
