Strange transactions at grocery store for $505.95? :)

The only strange transactions I make at the grocery store are for custom giant cuts of natural-feed meat. I don't do gift cards.

Interesting.. :)

With Amazon, I use the credit quickly, so it's not a gift card transaction in the usual sense. I mean I don't do reload cards.

I do enjoy it at times, especially if the clerk at the butcher counter is new.

I start to describe what I want...the cut and the feed...the clerk has clearly been trained to not interrupt a customer, but points to the shelf space with all the tiny little 2-pound portions...slightly annoyed at a seemingly clueless customer.

Then I drop the bombshell...I want a 6 lb cut (sometimes 8 lb or bigger)...no getting rid of me...you've got to do your job and go see what you have in the back.

When I do need something custom-cut, it's usually natural-feed rib-eye. Most other things I cook are already available "on the shelf".

Sixth statement generates tonight so I'm not too hopeful I'll get more but either way, 2.5k is still a decent limit for me. Highest balance reported has been 206 dollars.

I guess you just stopped using it after you met the 1k spend in 3 months.

I just redeemed what I suspect will be my last Sallie Mae statement credit for a while.

Gas and groceries are now going on EDP, so SM's only remaining category is Amazon (and very infrequently, brick-and-mortar bookstores).

Discover has 5% on Amazon in Q3 and Freedom has Amazon in Q4, and these cards have a higher cpp value.

I'll give SM minimal activity to keep the card open, but I probably won't put serious spending on it until 2016. Even then, I'd need to buy $500 of stuff to redeem a $25 statement credit.

To update this thread, I just hit the 12-month mark with Barclays and didn't get an auto CLI, but I called and they gave me a $1.5K CLI, so here is my CL history with Barclays:

8/14 Opened Account $3,000
2/15 Auto CLI $4,500
8/15 Requested CLI $6,000
American Express PRG [NPSL]
Chase Sapphire Preferred [$25K]
American Express BCE [$20K]
Discover it [$18.5K]
Barclaycard Arrival World MC [$6K]
Citi Diamond Preferred MC [$4K]
Citi Home Depot Consumer Credit Card [$3K]
Citi Best Buy Visa [$2K]

Was today's CLI from a hard or soft pull?

If soft, did you use the reputed trick (I haven't tried it) of first asking for an APR reduction?
