Good. Any reason you think of this card? For the 20k or whatever sign up bonus?

Do you have a ThankYou Premier card? ThankYou Points can't be transferred to airlines without Premier/Prestige/Chairman. Retailer gift cards may achieve 1 cent per point, and less than 1 cent per point for Amazon. Statement credit is the best way to derate TYPs.

I would say TYP combines both weak points from Amex MR and Chase UR - you get less value when getting cash (pay cc bill); and you have to maximize value by having an annual fee card.
Citi Forward Visa $5000 10/2012 | American Express Blue Cash Everyday $8000 2/2014 | Discover it $7000 5/2014
Chase Freedom Visa Signature $7000 6/2014 | Citi ThankYou Premier Visa Signature $5000 1/2015
All EMV.

getting ganked on statement credit

Postby qweqweabc » Fri Mar 27, 2015 10:00 am

I went to do a statement credit with all the points I have on my Citi "thank you" card.

Only I find that they are charging me 133 points for every $1.00 in statement credit. Dang it!

I'm trying to find a reward that gives me parity. I can get 100 points for $1 if I redeem them as CVS cards or Walmart cards, but we don't go there that often.

I see that I can use them to pay off my mortgage, but that page is filled with so many disclaimers it makes me nervous.

I've enjoyed this card for a long time but I'm saddened that they have yoinked away the simplest reward program. :(

I was curious as to the value of ThankYou pts but I guess I got my answer here. They dont let you get statement credit at 1 cpp??
Does anyone know how they do it at Barclaycard or Capitalone?

From what i have gathered, UR is the best for cash value (1 cpp) and MR is the best for transfer point value.

I would actually put UR neck and neck with MR for transfer value. Maybe even getting the edge depending on which travel partners are useful to you. Also, if I recall correctly Chase doesn't charge any fees for transfer, whereas AMEX does. Im still an Amex loyalist because of how well they've treated me, but I can be objective in these matters.
