BoA Payment Confusion

Postby popamode72 » Tue Dec 02, 2014 11:31 am

I'm really confused as to how I can pay my BoA credit card account from a non BoA bank. I've made transfers between my BoA checking account to my CC with no problem but I'm completely lost on everything else. With Chase, I can add non Chase accounts pretty easily and make payments from those.

I have no problem paying my Bank of America CC from my Charles Schwab bank account. It's pretty simple. From the BofA account summary screen, go to "Bill Pay" at the top navigation bar, then go to "Manage Pay To/Pay From Accounts". There, you'll have the option to add your external bank account - you may have to go through a test deposit verification process. After your account has been added and verified, return to the navigation bar, click "Bill Pay", "Bill Pay Centre", and you should see the option to enter the amount, select the new "Pay From" account and date you'd like the payment applied.

Hope this helps!

I just did what you said and added my BB&T checking account from the Bill Pay part of the login page and will be looking out for those trial deposits in a couple of days. I was wondering why when I added it onto the transfers part of the website why I still couldn't use it to make a payment to my credit card. Thank you so much and I'll be sure to have an update when everything's ready.

Anyone know why their payment processing time is more than a week? That alone makes me not use my BofA CC.

Not experiencing the same problem here. They've been very quick in posting, for my BofA and Merrill Lynch accounts. Usually post within 48 hours.
Retired, and in the process of retiring cards!

Weird. I don't know. Just transferring from my BofA bank account takes an insane amount of time. Chase and even CapitalOne process them for me in 24 hours.

I pay all my cards out of Chase checking and the payments have always been pretty quick.

I 'pull' payments from each credit card's website, rather than 'pushing' them from Chase.

It usually takes just a day for the payments to fully post with Chase for me and if I do them early enough in the day, they're already reflected that night. It's great. I do both Chase checking and using my other bank account to pay for the card.

My other favorite CC payment systems have to be with Amex, CapOne and Citi. Citi recently just changed their system a bit so if you make a payment, the balance immediately updates. Amex immediately updates the available credit and the balance is updated the next day and CapOne's system is similar to Chase's same day kind of payment system (at least for me).
