CSP App 7-10 Days

Postby darkguy2 » Thu Nov 27, 2014 7:50 pm

Well, I got an offer in the mail for the CSP and since I am planing on traveling this coming year I thought I would go for it. After filling in the invite code and submitting the application I realized that I still had a freeze on my credit. I thought it would come back with a message that it could not pull my report but it gave me the 2 week message. I called the automated line to check the status of my app. It went from saying that it has been submitted when I first try to call to saying I would find out 7-10 says after a decision has been made.

Does this bode badly for me? I guess the worst case for me is for them to deny me and since my credit is frozen I will not take a hit for it.

Call recon as soon as you can to see what's going on and give them the code so they can pull up your report if it happens to be the one they were trying to get. 7-10 days most likely means it was either declined or it's related to your CR being frozen. If the message on the phone had said something like this application is currently under review and you'll be getting a response within the next 30 days, that might be different like the application is going through verification. I know because I've had both of those messages before for my Chase apps.

It doesn't mean anything other than manual intervention/review is required. Call recon to determine what's going on.

I guess I will try to call recon tomorrow to find out and it says 7-10 days from when a decision is made not just 7-10 days from when I applied.

Now that I think about it I'm not so sure I would be able to do the $4K in 3 months. I think I will let the cards fall where they may. If I do not get it then I will wait until next summer when my income will pick up again.

Alright. That's very understandable. If you don't think the card is going to suit your needs at the moment, that's fine to wait another time.

I just went on to check what offers I have with Chase and when I put my current address in it comes back with nothing but when I put my old address in it came up with pre-qualified offers for both the Slate and the CSP. I thought if you were pre-qualified then you are almost guaranteed to get it.

I never really go by what prequalified offers I get at all. In fact, I've never really gotten any except from the likes of Credit One. I find it much more reliable to just compare my stats to others who have submitted information in the Credit Pulls Database and make a decision based off of that. None of my Amex cards I was "prequalified" for but I ended up getting instantly approved for nearly all of them.

Called the backdoor number and they told me it was indeed because there was a freeze on my account. So I lifted it and they asked me some questions such as income and what limit I was wanting. I asked them to match my highest card which was my Amex. They came back and said I was approved but with only a $5K limit which I am happy with. If I need more I can always transfer it from my Freedom. This is my first Visa Signature card and my first metal one so I am excited about it. I think I will get my sister added as an AU since she is responsible and I cannot spend the $4K requirement on my own at the moment. Plus, I get the 5K point bonus if I add an AU.
