Chase Sapphire Preferred

Postby PlatinumAMEX94 » Wed Oct 29, 2014 3:23 pm

I received an invitation in the mail today from Chase. 45,000 points for applying, first year waived, $95 thereafter. However, their website now states it is $150 vs. the $95.

I was approved with a $22,900 credit line. Technically is a no preset spending limit. Charges over $22,900 are due in full at the end of the billing cycle.

$4000 in spending in 90 days is required. I'm going to NYC to check out a condo at Trump SOHO, so 2 first class tickets and a couple nights in a suite will easily take care of that. I'll fly through LGA so I can check out the Centurion lounge. This will be my first metal credit/charge card.

I haven't posted anything in awhile and I didn't see anyone posting approvals on a CSP card. My credit score is still over 800, zero inquiries, pristine credit. I added a business partner as an authorized user for the extra 5000 points.

Anyone else get approved for this card lately? I looked on the application, but it does not appear to be a Visa or a Mastercard.

Just checked and CSP has $95 annual fee on official site.
https://www.firstusa.com/cgi-bin/webcgi/webserve.cgi?page_type=appterms&card=FB7W

There are variations of $95, $125 and $149 annual fee versions for this card. The benefits seem to be basically the same.

A recent mail offer sent to my (old) home has $125 annual fee. Spending requirement for 40k points is $4000, contrary to official site's $3000. So technically if you find the $3000 requirement link (from official site) you only need to spend less to get the bonus.

It's a Visa Signature card now. There are MasterCards in the past but they should be converted to Visa, and new applications will lead to Visa cards.

Thanks! You'd think they would state what it is in the letter.

They've always emphasized the Sapphire brand over the payment network brand, putting the World MasterCard or Visa Signature logo on the back of the card. However, as stated above, they're converting all to Visa and new cards are being issued as Visa Signatures.

Different people seem to get different AF's. Sounds a bit like how Amazon pricing can vary. Clearing cookies, incognito browsing, etc may affect the AF displayed but I'm not sure on this.

Offers vary and it seems like Chase is experimenting with different AF's.

So I just checked Chase website today and the annual fee becomes $150.

The application's SPID is FBW5, but if it's changed to FB7W, then it's the $95 annual fee version.

$95 annual fee application https://applynow.chase.com/FlexAppWeb/renderApp.do?CELL=6MRM&PROMO=DF01&SPID=FB7W
$150 annual fee application https://applynow.chase.com/FlexAppWeb/renderApp.do?CELL=63WS&PROMO=DF01&SPID=FBW5
Also note the two versions' introduction page links:
$95: https://creditcards.chase.com/credit-cards/sapphire-preferred-card.aspx (for me it's $95 now)
$150: https://creditcards.chase.com/credit-cards/sapphire-preferred-card2.aspx (which has a "2" after "sapphire-preferred-card")
Citi Forward Visa $5000 10/2012 | American Express Blue Cash Everyday $8000 2/2014 | Discover it $7000 5/2014
Chase Freedom Visa Signature $7000 6/2014 | Citi ThankYou Premier Visa Signature $5000 1/2015
All EMV.

Dang spend $4K crazy, what I did back in April (this year) was that I walked into a chase bank and opened a savings account (they suck so stay away.. only .1% interest) so while the bank guy was doing his thing I grabbed one of the flyers from his desk that showed the CSP card- I was already debating whether I should get the card or not before going in but when i was inside the bank i was like "**** it I`m going for it". so after he finished up setting up my saving account i started to talk about the card with him and asked a few questions.

He told me that the card was having changes done- and that it had similar to better perks than the PRG since i showed him a few of the cards i had at the time. like i said i ended up going for it- the banker filled my application i signed a few documents and bang approved. I was approved for $5k (cant remember correctly). I had to spend $2,000 to get the 45,000 points, i also added my brother so that made it 50k. I took a trip on June to Puerto Rico- In PR i was swiping the crap out of it and when i came back home i was given an auto increase to $7K. Not bad since I`m 22.. (look at my signature) and my annual fee is $95..

I apped my CSP around the first of November. It is a $95 AF (waived first year) and 40k bonus UR points with a $3k spend in 3 months. I don't remember doing anything special other than just going to Chase's site and apping with whatever showed up.

Also, the car rental coverage being primary (new this year) is enough to more than offset the AF for me. I rent a car around a dozen times a year. Previously, I had been using the optional coverage offered by AmEx on my BCP, but that costs $25 per rental. A dozen car rentals in a year means I'll be saving $300 on that coverage alone using my CSP.
AmEx - Platinum (NPSL) , Blue Cash Preferred ($19,000), Gold Delta Skymiles ($8,500)
Chase - Sapphire Preferred ($14,000), Disney ($11,500), Amazon.com ($9,000), Freedom ($8,000)
CapOne - QuickSilver ($7,250) / Platinum Rewards ($7,250)

Still shows $95 when I go check their site. My cousin recently applied and was approved with a 12K limit. A close friend of mine also applied and was approved recently, but I don't know what limit they gave him. My cousin has a somewhat limited credit history, but good income.
