Sallie Mae Mastercard

Postby darkguy2 » Sun Oct 05, 2014 3:21 pm

Well as of today I now have a card from each of the big four. I tried to get the Sallie Mae card awhile ago but was shot down. It fits my spending perfectly with the 5% back on groceries, gas, and books (Amazon). They started me out with $4K limit but gave me the 20.99% APR. But I never plan on carrying a balance so I do not care that much. My Discover FICO score from the beginning of this month says it is 717.
Discover IT - $5,700
Chase Freedom - $5,700
Costco Citi - $13,000
Sallie Mae - $4,000
Chase Sapphire Preferred - $6,000
Chase Sapphire Reserve - $19,500
Citi Double Cash - $6,500
Amex BCE - $13,000

FICOs: Discover (777), SallieMae (764), Amex (767), Citi (772)
FAKOs: CK- TU (760), EQ (760)

Awesome! I'm so happy for you and how you were able to get that card. It's still on my wishlist for next year (ideally in March) but I'm laying low for a while until that time comes.

I've had mine about a month and a half. I had a slightly higher FICO, presumably a shorter credit history, and got a slightly higher CL and higher APR.

Congrats... I love my Sallie Mae card. Surprisingly, you have a bigger initial limit than they gave me, but I got the best rate possible on that card. I've always wondered why issuers do that (ie. give someone a $5000 limit with a 15% APR and someone else $10000 with a 20% APR). I guess the APR is based primarily on their perceived creditworthiness while the limit factors in income as well.

  • BoA UCF Alumni Cash Rewards $5000 [3-15]
Sometimes in my Wallet:
  • GM BuyPower WEMC $5000[9-14]
  • Wells Fargo Propel 365 Amex $7000[4-14]
