What exactly is World Elite Mastercard?

Postby FastSRT8 » Tue Sep 30, 2014 12:32 am

Is it safe to assume World Elite Mastercard is their top tier product?

Admittedly I do not follow Mastercard much but I see lots of ads regarding the World Elite level.

That's what I'm figuring out too and how it differs from the World Mastercard in any way. I'm assuming more exclusive benefits and stuff like that.

I thought someone posted a link that had the three tiers beside each other, but I cannot find it.

My Hawaiian card was a "world elite" and its pretty rubbish. 3k limit and an apr of 24.99 with a 95 dollar annual fee. What a joke. Got the 35k Hawaiian mile sign up bonus and ditched it after like 6 months.

Hmmmm it seems mastercard's image hasn't changed much over the years. Clearly they are trying but have they made much of a difference?

They certainly fail to approach Amex Platinum in the perks department. Some of them - the Citi AA Executive card, for example - come with some serious benefits, but they're provided by the bank and not by MasterCard. World Elite, in and of itself, doesn't do much.

I don't think anything is really designed to compete with the Platinum as far as perks. The Platinum of course gives lots of nice perks for travellers, but the rewards are lukewarm so there is a trade off.

I've gotten my annual fee's worth on the card in my view already - I would have paid 175 for PRG and they charged me 350 for Platinum, but I've gotten reimbursement for pre-entry and other incidentals that pretty much already covered the extra cost so with further travels I'm just money ahead. The card is worth it if you travel.

Man I sound like an Amex commercial...

i was thinking about getting an elite card for the points and then ditching it before the annual fee!
