[quote="CarefulBuilder14"]There are definitely quite a few recent anecdotes about people having a pleasant experience dealing with CO's customer service and getting PCs and credit limit increases easily. On older threads, those pleasant experiences were pretty rare.
CO still has a lot to make up for in improving its reputation - especially in how it treated many of its long-term, low-risk Platinum customers who wanted a CLI or to PC into a rewards card but were told they couldn't and would have to get a new account. Some of those stories gave CO a reputation it deserved. People who had QS or Venture cards fared better in getting good treatment./QUOTE]
There is no substitute for experience: while a few newcomers to Capital One may have experienced incredible CLI increases and APR decreases, there are many (see quote above) who have long running accounts (13 years in my case), and absolutely perfect payment histories, who have been forever stuck at one credit limit, and a marginally poor (over 15%) APR. I am one of those people. I have had a major credit card since my 21st birthday in 1973, and possessed every brand of major card available to the public in the U.S. If I could charge my full credit limit on any one card in one transaction (not allowed by many vendors), I could put two of my cards together and buy a brand new Mercedes Benz, and have money left to pay for insurance. But Capital One treats me like I don't exist (unless I demand something), and won't budge on CLI or APR after all this time. I've asked for a fancy-schmantzy World Elite Mastercard a few times, and was told again and again they "can't do it, the system has to approve you...". So, I use my World Mastercard Venture Card to buy lunch, buy something at the Home Depot, something cheap on Ebay, etc. They don't get my "major business". Oh yes, I don't particularly appreciate the overseas call centers either. At least Chase has SOME American agents on call during the daytime hours. P.S. Everything I have written above is factual.
