What happened to Chase Freedom and Amex ED? You seemed to be deciding between those two cards two days ago.

Don't confuse advice with advertisements. Credit Karma 'suggests' I apply for cards it knows I already have. CK just looks at your CK score, and ignores important details of your credit history that particular issuers may care about more than your FICO scores.

What you apply for is up to you, but if my 'ideal next card' was changing frequently, I would do a lot more research before applying for anything.

I wouldn't pay too much (or any) attention to Credit Karma - especially their scores. Just like CarefulBuilder14, I already have some of the cards they recommend.

The Citi, AMEX, and Chase cards you are considering are very different. How are you planning on using the card? Can you give us an idea of your spending habits?
My Cards:

Discover It - $8,450 (9/13)
BankAmericard Cash Rewards Visa Signature - $5,000 (4/14)
Chase Freedom - $3,000 (5/14)
AMEX Hilton HHonors - $16,500 (6/14)

Like others are saying here, take Credit Karma recommendations with a grain of salt. There was one time they even recommended me for a Chase Freedom card back in May despite not even having close to a year of credit history at the time and I foolishly took the bait. There were other cards they recommended me that I already had, especially the Discover It.
Macy's TLs (21k), Lowes (17k), CSP (10k), Sam's Club (10k), Nordstrom (5k), AARP (4.2k), Freedom (3k), Discover (1.5k), Quicksilver (2k), BoA (3k), Barclaycard Arrival (2.5k), Amazon Store (6k), Paypal (4.9k), Sam's Club MC (3.6k), Walmart MC (1.2k)

Sorry to hear that.

You might try calling them and seeing if they will reconsider your application. I've never made such a call with Chase, but others can give you the right phone number and any Chase-specific advice. I'm not sure how definitive an initial decline from Chase is.

Look at the reasons Chase gives and try to address them. The best thing to do might be as simple as just continuing to use the cards you have responsibly and letting your history (and later your income) grow.

Of the three cards you mentioned an interest in, your odds were probably highest with the Freedom, so I would not immediately apply for another card. Wait a bit and improve your credit if you can't persuade Chase over the phone to give you the Freedom.
