Will I get approved?

Postby babybear9925 » Wed Sep 17, 2014 7:39 pm

I have been wanting to apply for a Chase Freedom Card. My credit score is 690, also I've been looking at the American Express Everyday Card - I like the rewards they give. I am part time college student making $37,500.

Approval criteria aren't set in stone. It's not like a 689 will always be declined and a 690 will always be approved.

I'd say your odds for approval on a Freedom are about 60-70%. Your odds for an ED are maybe 40-50%. More information about your credit history might help.

These are rough guesses, and no one here knows for certain, even if we had your full credit reports.

Look at creditboards.com for a better sample size. If you want to know for certain, the only thing you can do is an actual app.
Keeping indefinitely: IHG, SchwabPlat, CSP, Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE, Hyatt
May close or PC: Prestige, Arrival, BrooksBros
AA Platinum converting into Costco

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech
Letting new accounts cool off since May

Probably. Provided you have no bad things or very high util's or so many inquiries I don't see a reason not, but I don't underwrite for them.

A credit score doesn't mean many things, as creditor may consider both credit score and detailed contents in credit report, as well as whatever you filled in application and etc.

Surely there are others lower than your score getting approved, as well as those higher than yours getting denied. You won't know the answer unless after an actual application.

I don't know for sure but I have a feeling you should try. Depending on how your credit file is, I think you'd have a decent chance at either one of those cards.
