Arrival Plus Customer Service Experience

Postby onion » Mon Sep 15, 2014 1:06 pm

WOW! Barclaycard's service is awesome! I called them up because of a -$500 balance on my account (oops lol) and asked for a check. The lady was extremely friendly and upbeat and the call lasted less than two minutes, including the menus. I don't even get service that good with my AmEx Platinum!

Cool. Glad they worked that out for you so well. Man, can't wait to try Barclays again in a few months if they are as great as what you're describing.

I don't know if you saw my other thread a while back but I also had a good experience with their concierge service. They're probably extra friendly because I gave them $3,000 spend in like two weeks lol.

Just called them again to get my fiancee a card to my Arrival Plus account. These people are so pleasant and friendly on the phone! Beats the Platinum but a HUGE amount!

I'm definitely thinking that will be my next card. Even without considering the Chip+PIN functionality, my off-category spending is enough to justify the AF. I don't want a 5th issuer to monitor, so Doublecash and Fidelity Amex are not great options for me.

Have you researched the Arrival+ roadside assistance / emergency assistance features? I've read that the WEMC cards are required to coordinate something with AAA, but I can't find much information. Those services would really be the only reason for me to keep my Amex Gold (other than a very minor boost to what my AAoA will look like in a few years).

Well, I have that Financing Visa with Barclay's. Good to hear I'm building a history with a solid company. Hopefully get to PC in the future and look forward to some nice benefits/service.

Doesn't the fidelity AmEx post on the regular AmEx website?

I have done no research regarding that, I just always planned on using my platinum for roadside service. I'll give them a call tonight and ask them to explain it for me and then do the same for AmEx and see what's better. Could be an interesting blog post for the forum.

Fidelity Amex is issued by FIA. It uses the Amex payment network, but is run by a subsidiary of Bank of America. I don't think it uses the same website as other BofA cards.

If it was a straight 2% cash back 'real' Amex with no AF it would be a lot more popular!

FIA has a reputation for some randomly declined transactions out of overzealous fraud prevention, as well as an outdated website.
