CapitalOne Platinum upgrade to Quicksilver

Postby sicasun » Sun Sep 14, 2014 9:48 pm

I got a letter in the mail the other day from CapitalOne. They offered to upgrade PC my Platinum card to Quicksilver! With no credit check! I almost never use my Platinum because it gives no rewards, but now it can actually be useful :) I was considering calling CO about PCing my Platinum, but looks like they beat me to it.

CO did good, and I'm pretty happy with the upgrade. Can't wait to get my new card.

Congrats!

Do you know if your TrueEarnings has started reporting yet to the bureaus? Maybe CO got uneasy about the fact you had gotten an Amex and wouldn't be using them as much / at all?

Or the Costco TE isn't on your credit reports yet?

This is a good change. From what I know back in this summer Capital One began sending prescreened letters for the Quicksilver; based on you being offered the change, I am guessing they are actually focusing on this product--right now.

That's awesome! I was able to upgrade to the QS just by asking someone in the chat whether they had any offers for me at the time. No HP or anything from that either and that was only a few months into having the Journey card BTW.

Wow, lucky people here.

I have a $750 Journey and $750 Platinum. The Platinum is almost 2 years old. Perfect payments on both cards, using them like crazy to pay bills and when I spoke to them (in chat) about upgrading they wouldn't do anything for me. They just gave some crap auto response.

How long have you had yours? I told them I was going to cancel both cards, but it didn't matter.

Was the Platinum card you have one of those with an annual fee or a secured card? I noticed they tend to be a lot better about this stuff with their better cards. Perhaps calling the EO can help you out if you're still not able to get anything online or through the CLI button. Maybe you could not only get the upgrade, but a CLI through that and being able to move the limit of your old card to that. Doesn't hurt to try before deciding to close the cards.

I had three CO cards (one was a former Orchard Bank card) and they kept sending me letters offering an upgrade to QS on the two lower credit line cards. I finally called up and asked if they'd upgrade my higher credit line Platinum to a QS and they immediately said yes. We also went ahead and cancelled the lowest credit line card (the former Orchard card with a 2K CL) in the same call. A few days later, I noticed that my new QS card had a 2K higher CL as well.

CapOne - QuickSilver ($7,250) / Platinum Rewards ($7,250)

I will try that. My Platinum has an annual fee and is not secured.

Thank you!

Nope! My AMEX hasn't been reported yet as far as I know. But perhaps they see a more upgraded report that I don't have access to, I'm not sure. Either way, works for me haha.

Yes, it is! :) Looks like they're offering a lot of no HP PCs to Quicksilver from older cards like Platinum.

Congrats!! Yea, the CSR told me that it was an "invitation" only thing haha. I'm sure basically any card with less or no benefits compared to the QS is eligible though. The no HP is definitely the best aspect, especially I'm at 3-4 for each of the three bureaus
