US Airways Mastercard

Postby beckhsrules » Sat Sep 06, 2014 4:16 pm

How hard is it to get approved for a US Airways Mastercard? I know it is a Barclays card but does it make an easier one to get since it is an affliated card? I really like the benefits of the card and plan to use it for the first year alone. Can anyone put some thoughts on the same.
Cards:

Amex Blue Sky 2000 (5/14)
Amex PRG NPSL (8/14)
Bank of America Cash Rewards Visa 2500 (1/14)
BofA Better Balance Rewards 1000 (6/14)
Discover IT 1250 (4/14)

Scores: As of May 25 2014

Experian 714
Equifax 709
TransUnion 714

I would recommend checking the Credit Pulls Database and Credit Karma to give you an idea of what the approval criteria is.

So far, there are even some people with bankruptcies (though they already had a card with Barclays) or thin files that have been able to get this card and others had to recon to be approved. Just type in Airways on this site and search and you'll be able to see them.

With US & their FF program being absorbed into AA, I don't see that card being around much longer.

What are your concerns? Your scores or your Pulls recently?

I agree with you about this card being a must if you can utilize US or AA, for as little as $89.01 you get 40K miles on US Airways for now, which will become AA miles sometime next year.

I am just concerned how hard it is to get it? I applied for Arrival+ back in May and got denied for it. Is this card going to have the same approval standards as Arrival+.

I was told they were sensitive to Hard Pulls, so looking at your cards I am honestly not sure.

I will say that was the thrid card I app'd for on 24 Aug and I was approved, behind a AMEX PRG and Citi AAdvantage card.

Worst case scenario for me at that point, I would have had 4 HPs. I might have been cutting it close.
