Yeah, I know you just applied but don't hold your breath waiting for the card. My Barclaycard (Sallie Mae) took 8 business days after approval to arrive.

I had a comparable new credit and HP profile.

Can you advice me how long should I wait before applying for the Arrival Plus?

My history with Barclays is only about a month long, so I can't speak from personal experience, but there have been a few reports on here and myfico that Barclays likes customers to open up a new account with them no sooner than 6 months after the last. I will probably go for the Arrival+ in mid-March.

Are you hoping to use either US Airways or Arrival+ as a main travel card? Or you're getting these mainly for bonuses?

I am planning on using Arrival+ as my main travel card. The US Airways card was obtained mainly for the sign up bonus and the benefits of the card. Also I keep fluctutating my mind about the PRG which I already possess. I obviously will travel international sometime mid next year and also have planned for atleast 3 domestic travel before the end of the current year. I applied for Arrival+ back in May and got denied. That was the main reason for me to go for the US Airways card first.

I have just been looking into how Amex is trimming some charge card benefits a bit, and I would favor the Arrival+ because you can always downgrade it to a more modest no-AF plain Arrival. You can also turn a CSP into the odd-but-at-least-no-AF Sapphire, but you can't do it with airline cards or Amex charge cards.

I know this is an old thread but I recently pulled the trigger too today and got instant approval for 2K myself. Very happy about getting my foot into the door with Barclays at last. It's even stranger how I was denied for the Sallie Mae MC after a few days of it pending and finding out that result today but then trying that card and getting approved. I have a good feeling they used the same HP that was used for the Sallie Mae. Maybe it's one of those cards that they're really trying to promote as much as possible.

Congrats on getting the card! Although the AF is due the first year, the signup bonus is good and there's only a one-purchase requirement to earn the bonus - as opposed to $3k. It is hard to say what will happen to the card as a result of the US Airways / AA merger. One possibility is a PC to the Arrival.
