Chase Sapphire Preferred Fraud Department

Postby pac4toon » Thu Aug 28, 2014 8:22 pm

Just wanted to share that I am happy with CSP's fraud department. I woke up yesterday morning to a text message from CSP verifying a purchase made at a Home Depot in WA. I also recieved an email from them. So instead of replying to the text/email, I gave them a call to let them know that I did not make that purchase. Chase immediately cancelled my card and UPS'd me a new one (with a new account number). +1 for Chase Sapphire Preferred.

:oooo
In my wallet:
AmEx PRG/ BoH Hawaiian Airlines WEMC / Chase Freedom /

In my sock drawer:
AmEx HHonors & BCE

I'm glad that you were on top of things regarding charges to your account. But may I offer a small correction to your post: It's not really the "CSP" Fraud Department at Chase that gave you the quick response and service. The bank does this for all their customers whichever type card they have. My Freedom card was hacked years ago, and Chase called my home telephone number and sent me an e-mail asking for verification of the new charges, after which they shut down that account #, and getting me a new card within 5 days. The thing for all credit card holders to remember is to sign up for "transaction/account change alerts" through your bank (e-mails, text messages, phone calls, etc.) and also make them require password verification from the "cardholder". Thanks!

Also have Chase email you any time the card is charged without being physically present. It will generate some meaningless alerts for real transactions, but if you pay your bills in clusters or all at once, it is great. When you get an alert and haven't bought anything online or over the phone, it is good to have really fast notification.
