I called up CS and was successful in converting the Diamond Preferred to DoubleCash.

Successful Dividend Visa to Double Cash Switch

Postby ziff700 » Sat Sep 13, 2014 8:48 am

Did the online chat with Citi last night and told not elgible to switch my Dividend Visa to Double Cash.

Called this morning and was successful took less than 10 minutes total. I asked about Visa or Mastercard Double Cash and she did not know, but was fairly confident it would not affect the age of my credit history on my credit report. Was also unsure of any Visa Signature or World Mastercard qualifications. Switched because of the silly 50$ cashback requirement for them to mail you a check and worthless 5% rotating categories.

The 2% cash back is nice. The card design could have been improved though...

I'm thinking of applying for it. I got an offer in the mail today, 0% on balance transfers and purchases for 18 months. I'm not too keen on the reports here that they don't consolidate credit. I've got a worthless thankyou preferred card with a $1600 limit that I'd like to move most of the credit from. I'd close it at the same time but the primary reason my credit isn't nearly as high as it could be is the average age of accounts.

I just received the Double Cash card and I can say the physical quality of this card is not so great. I mean the laminated part on the back side, where the name and numbers are printed is not finished finely. The lamination has unfinished edges, and the lamination is bleeding out to the MasterCard logo & hologram. Looks like someone laminated the card just for the sake of it.

I already have seen someone else posting the photo of the card, which reminds me of Citi's (temporary) debit card. Pretty (too) simple cosmetics.

The chip on the front side has some "dirty" stuff around the edge. The red arc in Citi logo looked like to have a dark blue/purple countour (which should be resulted from red overlapping blue).

Does anyone have any pictures handy?
I wonder if they'd let me switch my College Dividends card.. but I do like how this card looks.

If the design bothers you just upload an image and have Citi send out replacement card. That is if Citi allows such things.

Anyone had any luck PC'ing an AAdvantage card to DC? My Exec card is up for renewal next month and I really can't see paying the AF again. The lounge at LAX is nice but overall I have been less than impressed with AA and I think it will be getting much worse with the merger...

The DC seems to be the best option Citi has right now. I just want a card with no AF to maintain the ~20k limit; I have no other Citi cards or I would just try to shift it.
