Chase Card Still Pending Amazingly Enough

Postby popamode72 » Wed Aug 20, 2014 10:06 pm

I am absolutely surprised with how the application process has been going this time. I dreaded getting that application needs further review message until the next day, I called Chase for myself and asked them about the status of my application and they said it was pending which has never happened to me before when trying them.

Normally I'd always gotten instantly declined on the spot and then I called them not too long ago in the afternoon and they also told me the app is still pending. Really told them the reasoning as to why I wanted the card and why I wanted to have more of a relationship with Chase and all that stuff and it seemed like the rep on the phone was very nice and understanding of where I was coming from and took some notes of our conversation. Only thing is that he wasn't directly working on the application so there wasn't anything he could do to just be able to make a decision on the app directly himself but I think he might have contact with the team. Not quite sure.

Anyway, I'm still not expecting anything mind blowing or surprising but I saw that a bunch of people on myFico had gotten approved for Chase cards today and yesterday and thought to myself might as well try and see what happens before any of the two Amex cards I got get reported to the credit bureaus and if it doesn't go as planned, oh well and that I can always try again later on. If it goes in the other direction, I can definitely go ahead and close at least two more cards (particularly the Chevron and Wells Fargo ones). I also wanna know if Chase usually sends out an email if they approved someone for a card or not. Will update this post with the outcome. Called the automated system as of now to double check and it still says the app is under review.

Not quite sure about your situation, but if you call the recon number 888-245-0625 they should be able to proceed with your application and tell a decision. I assume you were calling that number, but there could be a possibility it won't work, you could try calling again until you get someone who can process the application (hopefully you won't be so unlucky that nobody processes).

When I applied for the freedom card online, I called right after submitting the application and they said they could not approve due to not being able to verify information.

I called that number two times and both representatives told me the same thing and that they wouldn't be able to directly make a decision themselves so it's just me waiting at this point for a result.

I hope that's the main reason why. Otherwise I can't think of any other reason for the process to be taking longer than what I've usually gotten before.

And just called again, and the lady on the phone said the application is going through verification.

BIG UPDATE:

Approved for 5000 dollar credit limit for the Chase Southwest card. Highest limit yet. Randomly logged into my Chase account and saw the last four digits of my card number and the limit. Completely not expecting this but I hope this will lead to being able to do other stuff with Chase in the future because I heard once you get your foot in the door, getting other cards from them isn't nearly as hard. For now, I'm extremely happy about this and that means that Barclays and BOA are the only other big lenders that I had considered that I don't have cards with and quite frankly, I don't think I'll be needing anything from them for quite a while.

Probably gonna go ahead and close the Chevron and Wells Fargo cards really soon and I really hope in the long term, nothing bad happens to my other cards as a result of this approval. So great to have a big limit card that isn't with Amex because unfortunately, when it comes to bill pay, there are several companies that just won't accept those cards among other things.

Congrats! Chase seems to be in a giving mood lately. I just got approved for the Southwest card as well w/ my 2nd highest limit ($7.2K). The other discussion boards are full of Chase approvals recently, too - which is what goaded me into applying ;) Did you find a link to the 50K point bonus, or the 25K one?

I have the 25K one since I didn't wanna pay the higher annual fee for the card. Eventually what I'm gonna do once I've settled in with Chase and have had several months of good usage and payment history is try to see if I can go for the Freedom card and then just consolidate my Southwest card limit with that card so I end up with a Visa Signature Freedom card I don't have to pay any AF on. I think I will also be able to have similar rewards to the Discover card I have except with a much bigger credit limit. And of course I'm gonna try to take advantage of the sign up offer and getting all those points first before doing that. That's what I did with my Amex Delta card pretty much.

There's one big lesson I've learned from using credit cards for nearly a year now. Whenever I start seeing tons of approvals by a prime lenders like Chase or Amex at a particular time, that serves as my cue to try to get my foot in the door with such companies ASAP because it seems like they're more likely to give someone who's never had any prior history with them a shot and once the foot is in the door, that usually makes it a lot easier to get approved for other cards that they may have. I've also found that the travel cards can really be a good way to do that since it seems like they want to get those out to as many potential customers as they can provided that they haven't burned them in the past or at least that's my theory anyway. Chase was one of those CC companies that I thought hated me until now and I really thought it was gonna take me a long time just to get anything with them.
