citi prestige - upcoming changes

Postby MB131174 » Wed Jul 30, 2014 8:00 pm

anyone care to give their thoughts on the upcoming changes? some are: $250/yr airline credit (according to t&c's, this will also include.... AIRFARE), global entry reimbursement, admirals club + priority pass, 3x points on air, hotel & travel agencies, 2x on dining & entertainment and 1x on all else, ability to transfer to some airlines (all foreign it appears), points are worth 1.6 cents each when used to book american airlines (and i think us airways) tickets thru citi, and a glorious $450 annual fee.

i'm hoping member can tell us if we would be approved as well....

But, no more flight points. That was the big win for the Prestige.

Thing about those is.... you had to spend that many dollars to get them as well. If you flew 4,923 miles, you'd have to spend $4,923 on the card that month to get the full 4,923 points. Say your ticket was $1,300 - you'd still have to spend another $3,623 to get all the points. Not everyone spends that kind of money every month. Round trip ticket to Europe, approximately $1,300. With the 3x air points you would get 3,900 points without having to spend the full $3,900. Just the ticket purchase would do it. At least that's how it was explained to me. If that's correct, I think the 3x would be better for me personally.
