Barclaycard Arrival+ no instant decision need advice please!

Postby papelet » Mon Jul 28, 2014 9:29 pm

Hello guys!
So I just applied for the Barclaycard Arrival+ (because of the bonus of course) and did not get an instant decision; than I started wondering why? (look at my signature for reference).
I checked my scores, seems to be decent enough; inquiry wise: experian 2, Equifax 1, TU none.
Next step, go back to the application to see if I did anything wrong, which I did.
There's a question regarding how long have you been in your current address. My answer: 10 years, right answer 4 years.
Next mistake was about country of citizenship!? which I did get confused with residence. So I said I was a US citizen when I am really not.
The big question: In your opinion, did this wrong answers influenced the instant decision?
the 2nd question: Can calling a backdoor number and explaining the situation change the analyst decision and approve the card?
Thanks and sorry for the rant :D

Hello again!
Tried to delete or edit the thread but couldn't find the option... Anyway
So I got approved for the arrival plus with to (found out just now through the app status website) but now this is my concern "Barclaycard Arrival Plus MasterCard with a Credit Line of $5,000.00" I guess I can call and find out but in your opinion, is this a regular MC? I know the Elite it's kind of hard to get your hands on but I was at least expecting a World MC.
What do you think? And if it is a regular MC can I call then And try to talk then into converting it? Thanks again!

Why don't you just call them and ask? Us guessing which version it is really serves no purpose - none of us has any way to know what they gave you.

You can ask - I asked them to convert World to World Elite and they declined to do so. So you can ask, doesn't mean they'll do it. And no, I'm not going to give you my opinion on what I think the odds of them doing it is - just call, it's WAY less messing around than asking our opinion of what they might or might not do. Good luck!

MemberSince99, I did call and I did get the World Elite and I also got them to give a higher credit limit (7500 instead of 5000).
Now, I know your opinion would not influence their decision on What kind of MC they we're giving me but I thought I ask anyway, not you but the community... I apologize if I offended anyone's intelligence with my question. I just thought it would be fun to hear different opinions.
Thank you anyway And too bad they didn't upgrade yours. Good luck next time!

You didn't offend anyone. I was just pointing out there is no way any of us can know what they will do or give you and the best way to do it is call them. I didn't mean to be offensive either.

That's great you got the Elite and a nice limit congrats!

It's just as well they didn't give it to me - I'm quite happy with Amex. Things happen for a reason. I'm glad you got the card you wanted!

Everyone gets the World Elite now, even a $250 credit limit. And all existing accounts will be upgraded to World Elite by the end of 2014. So World Elite isn't hard to get. Congrats.

Then that kind of blows for those of us who had the World card but Barclay's wouldn't upgrade and we were told just to re-apply. It's service like that, which makes me happy they aren't in my wallet anymore, well service like that and the calls to them that were pretty much just like Cap One. But that is a slap in the face to the current customers they won't upgrade.

Really? According to what I've heard World MC and Visa Signature have a minimum credit limit of 5,000.

This is from the actual application:
"1 Offer subject to credit approval. Not everyone will qualify for the World Elite MasterCard credit card and its benefits.........For information about rates, fees.......please see Terms & Conditions"

I'm a little confused now... not that I care if everyone gets the WEMC (I like the silver logo) or whatever limit they get, or the concierge service. I just wanted the bonus and I got it.

It's always YMMV. Just like some of us had the card and they wouldn't upgrade us to WEMC, but others applied fresh and got it off the bat. It truly is always YMMV. So when people ask for hard and fast rules in this game, there really aren't that many. If you just included Amex in BK, we can tell you that you have a snowball's chance in hell of getting a card from them in the near future, that's just a given, but generally the rules aren't caved in stone.
