hyatt visa value = wow

Postby MB131174 » Sat Jul 12, 2014 9:12 am

I was looking at staying at the Hyatt House South Side in Pittsburgh next Friday night. With tax the room would be $269. I can cash in 8,000 points which gives me a value of 3.3 cents per point. Now, my other option is cash & points. $55 cash plus 4,000 points which would put the points value at over 5 cents per point. The cash & points means I'm literally "earning" over 5% cash back since it's 1 point per dollar. Granted, this is a good find. A night at half that rate for the same points would only be giving me 2.5% "back" for the cash & points option and only 1.65% for points only redemption. Still not too shabby though. I still can't believe this card isn't more popular than it is.

The simple reason I don't have one: I can transfer UR points.

What really sells it to me is that the annual free room is worth more than the annual fee

The free night sounds pretty good. I should look back into that.

FYI: Chase UR Mall has a thing going on where you get 5 bonus points for every $ spent at hotels.com. May not be worth it if your redeeming said points but for those looking to book some hotels, that may work out well.

What I love about Hyatt is the quality of their hotels. Yes, I get it that they are not everywhere like Marriott & Hilton are. For me, they are in the places that matter though. What I do like is platinum member rates on rooms when available, plus the early in/late out. Free interwebs at all Hyatts is nice too. (Yes, most offer it to anyone, but not all do.) It's the little things that really count when traveling. Especially the early in & late out.
