Chase Freedom Application

Postby Fixmymoney » Sat Jun 14, 2014 3:48 pm

Hey All!,

New Member here...okay...so...today I just applied for the Chase Freedom card over the phone. Rep told me that they needed additional time for review...Any chances I get approved??? Any way to speed this up??? Last year...I got their Slate card...applied on line...got to a certain degree the same result..."Needed additional time to review" ended up waiting for the decision in the mail ended up getting a denial. But with a phone call to Reconsideration ended up getting approved for the card ended up using it for a balance transfer. I actually just paid this card off yesterday and wanted this the Freedom card to balance transfer these remaining cards and I have some travel plans coming up I wanted to use to for the intro rate. A liI info about myself, also pulled my Exp Score yesterday...was very surprised. That was a 767. Please I need some insight on how to handle...who I need to call etc...??? Likely chances I get Approved??

Thanks in advance

Need More Info

Postby jrmsu » Sat Jun 14, 2014 10:10 pm

It depends...

Do you have any "baddies?" What is your average age of credit? How many inquiries have you had in the last year? Do you have any other card besides the Slate? What is your annual income? What is your utilization rate? Do you always pay on time?

I wouldn't think that Chase would reject you with a 767 Experian score and a prior account. However, we can't make a guess without more information.

Even then, nobody in this forum can tell you for sure what Chase will decide or what your chances are.

Good luck!

Allow some time for processing, pending is pending, neither definitely approve or deny.
So, you still have chance to get approved.

You can try with backdoor number (888-245-0625) to connect with a credit analyst, but don't completely count on them. Yesterday I applied and called them, they said they couldn't verify my social security number so they did not process the application at that time. Today I updated my info at a branch and a banker helped with the application and ended up requiring more time. For my case I won't be bothering to call backdoor number at the moment, but you can give it a try, your application may be processed, don't count on them completely though.

Agreed - call the analysts at the number given above. You may have to call and speak with more than one analyst to find the one who will give you a shot. Or not, but that was just a hint in case there is an issue.

What are "Baddies"? Average age of credit is 5 years 9 Months, 2 inquires in the last year(that would be including this inquiry). I have a 3 Credit Cards(Only 1 has a balance in which I'm trying to get this card to do the BT)...6 Retail cards(4 of the 6 has balances but I want 2 of the 4 to be included in the BT as well)...Utilization rate...is close to none especially in the last year....I always pay on time.

That happened to me when I applied for the Chase Freedom too. I called them, they asked me a few basic questions (previous employer, previous address, what kind of cars I have owned in the past), and they approved me during the call. The Chase representative was very nice.

SO! I went ahead and callled. They ended up just verifying some info. Basically in a sense the same info they're verified when I did the app over the phone. One of the reasons they told me they had to verify my app was because I had added an Authorized user. But after a couple minutes the rep came back online and told me I was approved. I was approved for a limit of $4k. I was looking for really $5k. I had asked about possibly getting an increase. This rep then told me he had to transfer me over to another rep in the customer service. Transferred me...pleasant rep told me I had 2 options, I could req a credit limit increase which includes them pulling another inquiry in which I didn't get that part if they already had one. But n e way guy said that I could do that or I can move up to $2500 of my $3k cl on my slate card and move it to my Freedom and still receive the promotions of my new card. Thought that was pretty cool. Thats what I ended up doing.

Just wanted to give you guys a follow up on the outcome and thanks for all you guys help!

Congratulations on your approval. I would be curious about by doing such limit transfer are you receiving the Signature version instead of Platinum.
