barclaycard rewards visa

Postby MB131174 » Mon Jun 09, 2014 4:25 pm

Wow. Just.... wow. So I had the Apple financing Visa and switched it to the Rewards Visa. The credit limit was upped from $3,250 to $5,000. The card arrived as a Visa Platinum. I called to see if I could get it issued as a Visa Signature. The guy on the phone told me you have to spend $50,000 a year to get the Visa Signature. I find that hard to believe. I'm going to call back and try again, but I'm thinking this may be a dead end card that gets zero use. I WAS going to put my electric bill on it since Penelec doesn't take AmEx.

Well that ended quick. I was told by a second rep that a Visa Signature is a separate type of card from the Visa Platinum despite the $5,000 limit. So - I pulled a MemberSince99 and closed the card on the spot. I knew I'd never use the card, so why have it just sitting around. When I asked to cancel it I was placed on a brief hold so an account specialist could help me. THE SAME WOMAN CAME BACK ON THE LINE ACTING AS IF SHE WAS SOMEONE DIFFERENT!!! Wow. So glad I'm done with that company. What a sack of stuff.

I've done that - answered my phone with a different voice and sure can I tell him who's calling....waited a moment then answered the phone in my voice.

My ultimate goal is to one day close a card the same day it gets approved. Oh wait I've done that - one of my Discover approvals they gave me a starting limit I felt was very low (even for them) so I tried to recon the limit (they don't do that, I've never read of anyone who was able to recon an initial limit with them) and so I just said well then just go ahead and close it for me now please. So I guess I've already met that goal.

Anyway Barclay's is really a mixed bag with their customer service - the ones I initially talked with made Cap One reps look like CSP reps. The later ones were good. It just depends but I experienced some of the pathetic service you did which cemented in my mind that I didn't need the card. So, I can totally relate to your post and your feelings of frustration.
