Work --_-- (blow off some steam?)

Postby nismoZtuner » Fri Apr 18, 2014 3:01 pm

How do you guys like your job?

***hopefully I don`t ramble too much and I hopefully I make some sense as well.. I know I have some fault for still being here so yeah What do you guys think am I wrong for thinking this way or something?**

Me, I work at a Tax and Accounting office(also helping out people with forms)- mostly work with Spanish speakers back when I fist started my Spanish was very poor and limited- I have been working here for about 3 years now besides my other income I make outside the office -I make about $16-18K (full year) here I work from 9Am-10PM every single day (Sunday to Saturday -payroll week) after the season is over I only work for about 20-30 hours a week till the season hits again . Before I started working here I was promised a raise on my second year depending how well I was doing. Then came the second and third year and I was already competing with the owner who has had 10+ years in the business the only way he has been able to beat me is because he had customers who would come straight to him. Even on my first year I was beating the owners wife and son on making the most money at the end of the day. The 2nd year I asked for commission per report -man you guys should have seen the owners wife face she didn't want to she made a big deal about it saying that my wage was enough ( -_- $10/hr**EDIT:$15 after 40hrs** no commission) when I easily made them about $2k+ per day. But at the end they did which wasn't too much ($1 per report) :/

-Also, when I first started the wife wanted me to stay extra at night to clean the office she told me "consider it a side job but no pay" I`m like "Bitch you`re crazy in my mind.." I rejected her offer- She was mad.. (back then I would let people push me around- but that was just stupid) (I guess she saw that I was easily pushed around)

so now that it`s my 3rd year (sort of annoyed already) no raise I didn't bother asking for commission since I noticed that the owners wife was sort of mad when it came to pay day.

---
After the season is over we sort of focus on helping people fill out documents they don`t understand. Thing that annoys me is that the owners wife always bounces customers to me every time she has a chance or even if she doesn't knows how to fill out the documents she has the customer wait on her desk till I finish helping my current customer while his son is on his desk just wasting time on the web.

-the son only has a sister so hes basically the only son in the family..

--
And now the son that guy walks into the office anytime of the day he pleases and all he does is sit on his desk pretending to be doing something and not trying to help the customers the only time he will help someone is if every one in the office is busy helping out a customer. Thing that gets me mad is that guy is always spending money and SHOWING IT OFF TO ME. yeah family money is getting him that.. When I started getting into credit he did the same- he tries to compete with my cards. Sometime when he is showing of his new stuff I`m like dude you need to learn how to manage your money hes like "I don't need too, once you have money you will know" I`m like BS. He`s always picking on my car I have a 1995 300zx Twin Turbo he has a mommy bought Camaro- his new car is just barely **just barley!*** able to beat a car that is 20 years old- (I don't like to beat around the bush when I talk that guy anymore) I tell him straight up "you have no expenses you live off your parents. you don't even pay your own expenses your parents do- even your own stuff when you buy stuff your mom gives you back the money" --aww man his arrogance pisses me off..

-May be if his family paid me more I would have something better but I like my 300zx..

Then hes like yeah I HAVE expenses even more than you- once again I`m like BS you don`t even pay rent, your parents pay your expenses, from food to car insurance. what now? and that's when he changes the conversation to something else.. and on top of that he still gets paid! wow talk about luck. I feel that he thinks he is above me- he probably thinks highly about him self..

This year I want to get into shape- guess who is tagging along? cough cough the son

*I got tired of them pushing me around all the time I now say what is in my mind- thanks to some.... ---This year I WILL try and get another job- I want to see how they do without me- maybe they will get on their ass and work.

I feel I was bitching but I needed to get that off my chest**there is still more to it-

Just to be clear, you work 13-hour days, 7 days a week during season and you get paid hourly?

That has to be one of the most perfect cases of an employer wrongfully withholding overtime pay I've ever seen. You should be getting your $400 a week for the first 40 hours and an extra $765 for overtime (pre-tax). And they've been doing this for three years now? Take a trip down to the California Division of Labor Standards and file a wage claim. I don't know how long "season" is, but if it's even three months, they owe you almost $7,000.

well that^

and if you wanted to you could go out on your own, you realize after the years you probably know most if not all of the clientele there

why pass over the money to them when you can cut out the middleman?

They do pay over time, when I started working here I did ask for over time past my 40 hours- But the other employees before I came in were not getting paid that.

I was able to meet two people that quit because they were not getting paid over time (they lasted 2 years). They all seem to have issues with the greedy wife..

Yeah, definitely find a new job. You're one of their best workers, but they're not paying you enough for what you do, and they will continue to do so because they believe you will stay working for them. They are taking advantage of you. The son's arrogance annoys you, and you are obviously unhappy working there. It is not healthy to work for a place that annoys you and takes advantage of you. The economy stinks right now, but staying at your current place of employment will hurt you. You have lost a lot of potential money because of the greedy owners, and your stress level/frustration will increase. Want to apply for a different tax/accounting office (or go out on your own like others have recommended)? With your expertise and sales record, it shouldn't be hard for you to get hired. Heck, you might even be happier working in a typical retail store that actually follows wage laws.

Yup, There is a lot of agricultural jobs here- I might even be lucky enough to get hired for an office job at these agricultural companies- since they usually hire payroll people. . I have no experience but it shouldn't be too difficult to pick up- ohh and the pay is above $15 an hour!! Plus they have medical insurance and bonuses unlike my current tax job which is only wage and nothing else...

Time to change and improve my self..

I just have one observation, after my boss is texting me on a Saturday night, asking me questions about websites that I've already answered before, no doubt because his bosses are spending their Saturday nights hounding him about them - these guys REALLY should consider just TRYING to think about something other than work on the weekends. They might like it. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. And they shouldn't be shocked that us "normal" people (so to speak) really don't give a damn about the websites on a Saturday night. I dealt with their games and their screaming and their insanity all week long and I'll be damned if I even give a rat's behind on a Saturday night about them. I don't care. And on Saturday night, you shouldn't either. It will still be there Monday. End of rant.

I agree you should look for a new job. I learned in my early 20s that life is too short to be paid less than what your worth. Do what you need to do to get the pay you deserve.

My job. I love it, besides my assistant...I hate her. I didn't hire her, and I cant fire her. Sucks.
