It really depends on where you live. I'm not a fan of VZ, per se, but they give me the best call/LTE service in my area hands down, and I am willing to pay the premium.

When the Department of Justice blocked the acquisition of T-Mobile USA to AT&T I was pretty upset, being an AT&T user. However now I realize that was the best decision. T-Mobile has introduced much more competition and it has helped a lot, although I would never go to T-Mobile I do like what they did. Their CEO John Legere is awesome too.

I'm glad I have stuck with AT&T for so long. My family pays $160 per month for 3 iPhones (200 MB, 300 MB, Unlimited) with unlimited text and talk (well... 700 shared minutes, but unlimited any-to-any mobile calling, which is all I use it for except for the occasional service calls). I couldn't do without the contract either: I bought the 64 GB iPhone 5s when it was released and paid the contract price for it, which ended up saving me around $550 (likely more due to tax).

With AT&T if you've been with them so long they will finally bend and negotiate with you. Or maybe not! I've been with them since they were Bellsouth Mobility. My parents don't use much data, but I'm glad I still have my unlimited data plan. FaceTime and iTunes radio sure do use up a lot of data!

I've also been able to unlock my old iPhones and sell them on ebay for just as much as I got them for, which makes contract pricing great.

I notice you have a school-related credit union Visa. If you are a school employee, you may be able to get a discount on your service.
