Any Golfer?

Postby Dr.Mark » Sun Apr 06, 2014 6:57 pm

Hey guys, I was just wondering whether any of you play golf?
I do, since a few years.
I'm a 7 handicap right now always looking to improve.
I'm a totally Titleist fan and these are my clubs:

Titleist 913D3 9.5º Aldila RIP Phenom 70
Titleist 913F 15º Aldila RIP Phenom 80
Titleist 913H 19º Titleist Bassara W 50 HYB
Titleist AP2 714 4 - PW
Bob Vokey SM5 52º-56º-60º
Scotty Cameron Tour 009

They cost me quite a lot of money but I couldn't be happier.
I'm sure there are some golfers on here. Come on! :D

im a pretty avid golfer, and its about time for a new set of irons.
i got the callaway diablo edge's when they first came out, and they are the most forgiving clubs ive ever used. now that ive stepped my game up, ive learned that these irons are about as unplayable as you can get. there is no way for me to work the ball whatsoever.
i use a taylormade superfast 2.0 or a diablo edge tour driver (depending on the hole), a diablo octane tour 3 wood, and an old big bertha 5 and 9 wood. i use an odyssey white hot #7 putter.
i am by no means an expert golfer. im about a 12-13 handicap on an average day, although this past weekend i finished 17 over.
if only i could putt worth a damn, that'd knock my handicap down to 8 or 9.

Yeah, I totally get what you mean regarding the irons. I used some "very forgiving" irons too at the beginning... which were forgiving until my game got a little better.
Actually, I can't complaint about my putting game... But I can complaint about my driving... I just can't get the driver going 60% of the times!

I 'play' if you call what I do playing.

I love the game... just need to dedicate time to go out and practise.

Can those above me who clearly are good players give me a good routine to follow to get better?

How many times a week to the driving range? How many full game days?

I started playing when I was around 35. The best thing I ever did was pay for lessons right off the bat. I don't play as much as I used to, but can still stay in the 12ish handicap range. I love Taylor Made clubs, the R7 irons that I have work really well and still allow me to shape my shots while still being fairly forgiving on misses.

As for putting, the best advice I could give anyone is get a "Putter Ball" practice putter.
My Wallet:
Discover IT - $4000;
AMEX BCE $12000;
Citi Double Cash - $6600;
CHASE AARP Visa - $5000;
Banana Republic $1200;
NFM - $20,000;
Sears (Citi) MC - $6000;

As OldMan said the best thing you can do is go get some lessons. They will totally transform your game.
Usually I go to the driving range once a week (or, instead of that, I play a quick nine holes by myself) and I play on Saturday or Sunday either by myself or with some friends. I just love vein out there all alone. It's a game that make you think a lot.
