If that's what is going on then I agree it's dishonest. I would simply say if you want to help me and this board out, click this link, though I doubt many people would, but that would be honest.

I didn't see a real bias in the actual reviews and I didn't click the link because I'm not looking to sign up for the cards, but if that's the case, yeah, not good.

Yeah, this is not good. I knew this was a for profit forum but I had alway believed they had truth and our best interest in mind.

I follow the Points Guy and Frugal Travel Guy blogs and they are always pushing their links but if a better one exists they are very up front about it and tell you where to find it if they can't post it. People are always harping on them about pushing their links but it IS a business, just like this forum.

I guess we have to do the trust but verify with this forum....

At one point in time I wanted to play the affiliate game. I still sort of do, but I'd rather not compromise content over establishing those business relationships. Someday I'll build a free app to manage this rewards madness just because....

Personally I would not build any free app. It's one thing to give time and advice, and another thing to do what you do all week long as your living on your own time for free.

When I started out in IT I couldn't believe they actually paid me (and well) to program and I did it at night and on weekends I couldn't get enough of it. Enough years of that, and the LAST thing I want to do at night and on my time is program.

So I sure don't see myself doing it. Good for you if you do.

The app itself is the easy part. It's the content that's the time consuming part. If you think of it that way... it's just a lot of time imparting your advice to an app. Damn... sounds kinda lonely haha

Yeah but if that's what does it for you, more power to you! There are far worse things you could do.

Me, I get enough of programming and messing with that kind of thing at work. More than enough actually. I want to do other things on my time.

I see that the AAdvantage review thread has been updated to state that the link goes to a 30,000 mile bonus offer, not the "best available offer."

Not that anyone was seeking it, but that move has my approval.

Now, if we could just quit with the astroturfing in the US Airways thread, I'd be content.

I think Michael Dolen is quietly taking notice.

Update -

CreditCardGuru messaged me. He has fixed the AAdvantage link and has made some updates to the US Airways review thread.
