I held silver status with United for 7 years. With the merger and watering down of benes, I got the CSP to broaden my options. I still have my "accounts" with everyone because the 1-to-1 conversion (points to miles) often gets me better deals. But it's just not worth it for me to be loyal anymore. My loyalty, RECENTLY, has bought me only a lot of snark and not much else. $25 for a bag is more than worth using my points where I may...

And, edit to say, yes, that's all base status gets you these days. The premier line is often no better than the regular one, at least in my market, and if you check in online, the advantage amounts to 5 minutes or fewer. You're better off paying for special treatment for each flight because, in my recent experience, they treat those people better than those of us who have flown 200K+ BIS miles over the last couple of years.
CSP $19K
BOA $4K
UMP $11.5K
Target Visa $1.5K

Do you guys plan on staying with Delta? Looking at their program changes it could be worse. They are rewarding people who spend more which is understandable coming from them. If you buy heavily discounted tickets that they don't make much money on they don't want to give full miles. I feel like all airlines will slowly follow suit. It will weed out some people in the top elite classes so there might be more available upgrades which could be nice. Just a thought.

My main program is UA, but I'm a member of quite a few: Aegean, ANA, Cathay Pacific, British Airways, EVA, Taca, Iberia, Singapore, United, Qantas, Delta, Southwest, US Airways, and American.

You never know when you'll be able to transfer some Starwood, MR or UR points to a program for a great deal.

Delta. In SLC it is the most flexible and convienent choice even though other programs are looking very appealing.

Just a note that I keep all my airline and hotel program accounts "active," I just simply won't be giving all my business to United anymore. I've exclusively flown UA and Star Alliance airlines over the last 7 years because they treated me well up until about last summer, to the point that it was a realistic bucket-list item to get my name on a plane (2M BIS miles...I figured it I could tick up almost 250K in 6 years, with 30-40 years more flying in my life I could do 2M). But with how poorly they've treated me in the last few months, I've decided to take whomever will give me the best deal. Doesn't mean I won't keep an FF account and use it for transfers...as I mentioned, that often gets you a better deal...

Delta, mainly because they have 15x the number of flights as the other carriers in my location unfortunately.
