I just do the same.

I frequent another credit website (and ran out of new threads to read) so I was browsing around and happened to run across this thread. I made an account specifically to post to this thread lol.

I worked for an IT contract agency in the past, and given the choice again I will always apply directly. I have typed three different responses... every time trying to trim this down. I am glad that they gave me an opportunity when I couldn't find someone willing to do so. On the other hand. they were all about the almighty dollar, and for a small agency I expected something a little different. By frustration, I found a job on my own, and I'm still employed here today. Still not doing work completely with what I went to school for, but at least dabbling. I would be happy here for a few more years for sure after my recent promotion.

That said... I also feel like I am stuck in a loop at this stage in my life. I can't get the job without experience, and I can't get the experience without a job. How do you break through this vicious cycle? Obviously it is a secret, so feel free to PM :ppp

Kind of off topic here, but here is a link to tech support that is simply outrageously funny. If you've ever dealt with outsourced "support" you will relate to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmD_8cBqhW0

Some of you may be amused by this. I got an email from a recruiter saying how I'd be in "3 roles simultaneously". So I responded "So if I'm in 3 roles simultaneously, do I get paid for 3 roles simultaneously?"

Anyone wanna lay a bet on whether he wrote back?

Had a friend who went through a recruiting firm to get a position with first republic bank, he was making 18-19$ before with Bank of America, working back office without a degree

When he applied through that, they took him before his contract was up and offered 50k a year before bonuses, which isn't bad considering what he got paid at bofa

When I asked him what he placed for education, kinda surprised they took him without a degree, he says he didn't turn in a resume or fill out an app cos it was through the recruiter, and the recruiter had that info

So I'm sure first republic knows, but who knows, they were good for him b/c he was unemployed for more then a year before this

I highly doubt first republic knows anything about it. Recruiter generally beef-up your resume (mostly fake) and present before the employer.
