It's new to have Amazon charge the tax. So essentially it is a new tax.

And generally you don't pay sales tax on online purchases where the company doesn't have a physical location in the state. That was by design but now the govenrment just wants to find any excuse to take more of our money. And we know how wisely they handle it. (Think in terms of college student with a credit card on a drunken binge) after all they can always just take more whenever they feel like it.

If you want to pay higher taxes by all means, be on board and be my guest. You can pay mine - I won't complain I'll thank you.
Me I feel I pay more than enough already, and Obamascam hasn't even raped me yet but I have no doubt it will.

I used to joke about this and never really believed it but now it's becoming a credible thought that someday it's a certainty that they will make more off my wages than I do (they being the government). In other words they will take more than I do from what I "earn". The scarier thought yet to me is will it come down to they take it ALL and decide how much if any to give me. I once laughed when conservatives threw that out there, now, I'm not laughing.

Being in Texas I would think you would be against the whole big govenrment/high taxes thing. Here in WI I live in a very high tax state - my taxes probably doubled over what I paid when I lived in Texas when I moved back here in late 2001, once I got a job. (Wisconsin takes what's close to equal to what the Feds take out of my pay, and they don't give much of it back either even at that). And we have sales tax and all that stuff here too, not quite as high as yours but trust me, you wouldn't want our tax structure instead of yours.

I will say it's kind of an emotional reaction though. But if we don't draw the line somewhere, we may well see the day they keep our whole check and decide what they feel we need to live on. They already decided what we need for health insurance and that we need to have it at all so it's not as out there as you might think. But yeah it's an emotional reaction when I really think about it. But it's the priciple of it.
