They have always used ANY shipping method to get it two you in the promised time frame. So this has been happening for years. When I order cheaper items (and often times smaller items) it is usually shipped USPS or SmartPost. I still get it on time.

If you buy something and their warehouse is 1 state away, even if you pick 1-day shipping, they might ship it UPS Ground because it will still get to you in a day.

So this honestly doesn't bother me, what does is that so many items are now "Add-on items" when they used to be Prime eligible! However, I'm still keeping my subscription because I do buy a lot of stuff per year from Amazon and do use Amazon Prime Instant Video.

I just ordered something yesterday off of Amazon and it shipped UPS. As someone said above, I think it's just there to get you your package as fast as possible.

Oh, and I love amazon prime. Wouldn't cancel even if this was completely true :)

What they said. Amazon Prime is a great value and I enjoy the service I get. I'm a very happy customer.

My items still come UPS. I have no complaints.

the worst is when they use Ontrac...worst service ever. Your stuff usually gets to your house on time, but usually the driver would just leave it at the top of my drive way (from top of driveway to front door is about 50 feet). Once I even found my package thrown in the hedge. And another time the driver just kept honking his horn until I came out to get the package while he just handed it to me from the drivers seat...just awful

I've never heard of this shipping service until you mentioned it. From their website:
OnTrac is the faster, more affordable alternative for regional package delivery

I actually don't get USPS mail at my physical residence, so it's always a headache trying to figure out what kind of shipping they'll use, so I know whether to give out my street address or my PO Box. When I've chosen incorrectly in the past, I've even had packages show up at former addresses... it's a good thing I'm still local. O_o In my area, I've had a few headaches with UPS, but FedEx has been pretty dependable. Having them deliver to my PO Box is even better, so I don't have to worry about whether they've delivered to the back door as I've asked them to.

Out of curiosity, why would FedEx SmartPost be a dealbreaker for you?

This is my only complaint about Amazon Prime now. As long as I get my packages when they say I will it is fine. Although I haven't had any of those bad things happen before, yet, with packages being left in the driveway or in the bushes. Mostly I notice my Amazon Prime deliveries are UPS.

I've always had good experiences with OnTrac and being in the Bay, Amazon uses them the most for delivery. They always leave it on my doorstep. I probably just got lucky and have a good driver the route.
