Disputing your credit reports

Postby xbillyjean42x » Fri Aug 09, 2013 8:25 pm

Has anyone disputed their reports and the company failed to come back within the 30 day period so that forced the Exp,Eq,and TU to drop the account in question? I've heard that's a possibility..but I was wondering if it's a common thing, or once in grey moon thing.

I'd love for one of the employees to forget to do their job and miss the deadline for some of my bad accounts LOL. waiting 7 years for some bad accounts to come off is a pain in the a** I tell yah lol. I know the old accounts they take less into consideration as time goes on, but I just feel like it's a big grey cloud over my file u know? And I feel like they don't take in consideration the on time payments as much as they should. Every time I pull my free credit reports, I always dispute everything I can to see if they verify it and see if they slip up. It's like okay okay..i get it..don't rub it in every time i request credit/loan and it's a factor for denial. Next year for 3 of my negative items and it's like FINALLY. Then one repo I have to wait until 2016 though :( But that's basically it, and I worked my butt off and I've never been late for anything else after that period in my life though which I'm very proud of.

Good luck with that. I've heard it can happen but have no experience with it.

The only personal experience I have is disputing things that shouldn't have been on my report in the first place (never disputed a legitimate item). And even when the items aren't legitimate and a company is violating the law by having it there, there is still an excellent chance they will claim the item is "valid", and that's all the credit bureau cares about and they will keep it there while this happens (if it's your word against their word, they win, hands down, every single time).

So if it is actually legitimate, you might get lucky, but I wouldn't count on it. And also, the bureau will only let you dispute so many times - you keep doing it and finally they will say you can't dispute the items anymore, mainly to prevent folks from following your idea and disputing everything on a monthly basis. So please bear that in mind - they've already taken folks like you into account :) Save your disputes for when they are legitimate - if you have a baddie you deserve on your report try pay for delete or to goodwill it off. Or live with it and move on.

I may just wait, I guess I've been waiting this long, I can wait a little longer.
