Anybody like casinos?

Postby paparoach429 » Fri Jul 26, 2013 2:17 am

So the other day I went to the casino for the first time and I really had a lot of fun. Baccarat was the game to catch my attention. Maybe because it was one of the cheaper games to play, theres no real strategy involved, and it was the game I won on. What are your guys' favorite games and stories about casinos?

I'm a huge poker fan. I play texas hold em whenever I can.

I normally try to play at places that give away liquor when you play. I make good money that way. I have lost money the last 2 or 3 times I've played. I've gotten better, but I still need more practice.

Casinos are a little depressing. Vegas was nice for the shows, and the Indian casinos have their place, but I'd rather take the money and buy something that I want rather than bring it to the table, because I'm too cautious to play cards the way I need to play to win. I prefer to play with 8-10 people I know, in someone's private game. On the other hand, DH just got home last night from Dallas via OK, and came home a winnah at the poker tables.

Stories tend to go along the lines of, "I had a Q-9 of hearts, and got a flush draw on the flop. The 8 of hearts came up on the turn, but I didn't pay attention to it-- I made my flush. The river was a card that was really great for the other guy, and he went all-in. I was looking at my hand and realized I had a straight flush. They give you a giant hat to wear when you get one of the rarer hands, but I made $600 on that hand."

I'm going against the grain. I hate casinos. Not a fan of gambling that way. Don't get me wrong, I gamble in the business world to make money but not for entertainment. I have better ways ton spend that money.

If I could find small business ventures to invest in, I would do that.

Not to hijack, but have you ever looked at some of the landlord forums? There are plenty of ll's who live in areas where you can get a fixer-upper for peanuts, and a good house for a song, and are open to financial backing. It's definitely its own form of gambling-- and definitely addictive-- but you might look into it if you've got the stomach for it.
