The cards in my wallet are getting out of hand

Postby jojo » Thu Jul 11, 2013 2:18 am

I've tried so hard to pare down the contents of my wallet with no luck. When I shop for a wallet, I need to count the card slots to make sure I have enough room to haul all my cards. What's sad is I only have two true credit cards on me at any given time!

One debit card for my account, another debit card for the joint account, gas card, corporate card, debit card to access HSA account, and various debit rebate cards. This doesn't include even include store credits or gift cards. If I leave any given card at home, I always end up needing it at the wrong time.

It seems like if any government agency, employer, or company needs to pay you, they'd rather give it to you in a form of a card. These cards are loaded with usage fees and restrictions. I'm so tired of these miscellaneous cards; I'd rather have direct deposit. I'd even take a paper check over another faux card.

Anyone else feel this way? Any tips on keeping a manageable wallet?

There is a wallet thread on here in general I believe, they had some 32 card storage wallet that should cover the needs of anyone. I can't recall the name of it, but a search on here should bring up the thread just search on wallet.

The problem is not the wallet, it's the number of cards you have!!

Pear it down. I am sure there is no need for all of them

I have my Discover, Citi DP, two Capital One cards, Amazon Rewards, Chase debit, American Eagle Visa, Kohls Charge, Flex Perks, and my license. I will drop the Cap1 from my wallet if my Discover card gets a CLI. Right now, I have too many. I want to reduce it to the Discover, Amazon Rewards, and the Citi card. Add on a BCE and I will be set. There's no reason to carry 8+ cards.
Scores on the mend...
FICO: 650 (Discover/TU, 6/23/2016)
Cards I Use Citi Double Cash, Chase Amazon, Capital One QuickSilver
Sock Drawer Discover IT, Citi Diamond Preferred, AE Visa, QuickSilver One, Walmart CC, CareCredit, CreditOne (keeping for history for now)
Short Goal Reach 680
