I work for corporate america and I just hate it. I dream of escaping from that hell. I hate the lies and the games and I couldn't care less about the 1%, just as they couldn't care less about me.I don't care to be a part of that even if I could, and I could, if I lacked moral values, if you don't care how you do it, you can get rich. Getting rich and having a conscience, that's a whole lot harder.

But man, I just hate working for corporate america. The lunatics truly run the asylum at these places and it's pretty much the same everywhere, just variations but the same insanity.

former employer of mine, vzw, seriously felt like a cult. the kool-aid references were often and plenty by those of us who didn't buy into the corp bs. i could give hours of stories of the evils of working for verizon. u think you're miserable as a customer? the employees are 100x more miserable. and, yes, they most likely do hate you as much as u hate going in there.

I'm sorry you went through that. They do seem like a very greedy company to me, they make good money off us already yet NEVER stop thinking of ways to chisel a few more dollars out of us, like charging us a fee to pay our bills online, removing the unlimited data plan, etc etc etc.

Sorry it was that miserable there. I don't buy the BS either, but remember it's like North Korea - you had better PRETEND to buy it and cry your eyes out when "Great Leader" dies, or there are consequences for your defiance. In North Korea you go to a re-education camp, and in the US you get downsized, and if they don't like you they pile on the humliation on your way out the door (as if you need more after losing your job).

My first name is Jenny. Growing up in the late 80s and early 90s, there were at least other four other Jennifers/ Jennys/ Jenns in my classes. Instead of going by Jenny and a last initial, I decided to shorten my name to my initials, which were JO. Then people started calling me Jo and it stuck. I use jojo because I've run into problems with "Jo" being too short for a username.

I gotta say, this was pretty interesting to read. Cleared up a lot of curiosity I had. :)

The only good thing I'll say about vzw is compensation. I averaged around $63,000 a year there plus full benefits, paid time off, 401k, etc. A friend of mine is a trainer for them and makes over $100,000 a year, so they do compensate their employees well. Your run of the mill customer service reps on the phone make around $40-45,000 a year. However the absolute BALL SHEET they require of both employees and customers is uncalled for. That $30 a month data plan you pay for? Yeah, costs them around $3 a month to provide. The one thing I will say in their defense is the cost of phones. The full retail prices are just pennies over what they actually paid for them. I know, I've seen the cost sheets when I was in management with them. Accessories, on the other hand, are a total butt rape. A car charger costs them maybe $4 then they sell them for $30. Each phone going out is supposed to have $100 worth of accessories with it. That's why they push that crap so hard on you. Gah. I could go on and on.
