Pure lack of creativity. It's part of my name and then I stuck a 1 on there for the hell of it.

I think all of us started out somewhere other than where we are now.

My first job at 16 was a dishwasher for 3.35 an hour. It was as close to slavery as I've seen except you went home at the end of your shift (or rather crawled home barely functional). It consisted of working over 12 hours with no break or meals and you were working yourself into a sweat to try to keep up with the onslaught. I believe the time they worked me was illegal for a minor but this was back in the 80s depression era where you were lucky to get a job even a sweatshop job. (kind of like now except now is probably even worse).

I worked a lot of 4 buck an hour jobs where you were going nowhere, when I hit 6 bucks an hour I thought wow I'm really moving up. (Back then that was probably like 9 dollars an hour now). I worked in a factory at one of those jobs while I went to collge for Computer Science. I told my co-workers I was going to school to be a programmer and they just laughed at me and thought I was joking and it was kind of implied I was too big an idiot to have dreams of more. Wasn't sure what to make of that, really, but never let others set your dreams and expectations for you - set your own and live up to them. Let them live the life they choose and you do the same.

So I think all of us started somewhere other than where we are today.

You may want to change that. I'm able to find out way too much about you with that information alone. USCG and Valleycrest?

No kidding. I started out as a Subway Sandwich Artist, progressed to a nationally award-winning bartender and now direct music videos and commercials for Fortune 100 companies.

That's why I always treat the guy who asks me if I want fries with my burger with unconditional respect.

That's something that bugs me too - when I see people treat their food servers with a total lack of respect. Whistling for them like a dog, snapping their fingers, talking down to them, really folks what are you thinking there? They are human beings just like you, and maybe you were fortunate enough that you never had to do that and more power to you for it, but it doesn't at ALL make you any damn better than they are.

If just common courtesy and being a decent human being aren't reason enough, maybe you should consider they serve your food, you really don't want to mess with them you know what I mean? I would not want any weird "extras" in my food!

I always treat them like I'd want to be treated.
