Customer’s Dunkin’ Donuts Rant Goes Viral for All the Wrong Reasons

Postby Snowman » Tue Jun 11, 2013 7:43 pm

All over a donut.... Article: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/trending...7725.html?vp=1

Video: Taylor Chapman Dunkin Donuts Rant - YouTube

Working in the service industry, it is amazing the sense of entitlement people have these days in our society and unfortunately I think it's getting worse. I unfortunately, get to deal with it all the time at work so it's nothing new. But this late was pretty rude, obnoxious, and downright nuts. The customer is right most of the times, but not in this situation.

But really, all over a donut?

I am not kidding as I relate this - I went to lunch at a Taco Bell, and I'm sitting there and some dude comes in just storming up to the counter, DEMANDING they give him an American quarter. Why? Because he claimed he went through the drive up and they gave him a Canadian quarter and they are trying to rip him off, and he's not going to take it! I mean he just pushed to the front of the line and he's standing there making a scene everyone is looking and you'd think they stole his wallet or something. They gave him 50 cents just to get him the hell out of there.

I kind of felt like it was extortion, I mean do you seriously go in and make a scene over a quarter? Really, are you THAT cheap and that big of a lowlife? And with people the way they are (scumbags, a lot of them) I'm not sure I'd believe him anyway - he should have brought it up at the driveup window if he had a problem with it (which they told him at the counter because now it's his word against theirs) I mean think about it - you don't notice when they give you the change but you notice as you are pulling out of there? Who knows.

I must work in not the greatest area, because of what I related above too, and being accosted by weirdos and beggars. That was one incident I saw at lunch (I go to lunch every day, gets me out of there for a bit which is vital really).

One time I'm in a Burger King, and some weird looking dude comes up and pokes me in the arm (which I did not like, if you are a stranger do NOT touch me without permission) and shows me some stupid card begging for money as I'm standing in line. I just shook my head so he goes to the dudes in front of me and does the same thing, they take his card thinking he's giving them a business card and put it in their pockets, while the beggar thinks they are going to give him money and gives them a big thumbs up. After they didn't produce any money, he pokes them in the arm again and they figured out at that point he's trying to panhandle from them. They just said no and I thought that's really nerve to come up to people like that and poke them and pester them for money, ever think of getting a JOB?

Then I'm pumping gas at a station in the area and some old lady comes up to me asking for 2 dollars to buy "candy in the store". (I thought yeah I bet it goes for booze lady). I said no. So she goes to the van next to me and this guy rolls down his window and gives her cash, I was like sucker, she's not going to buy candy unless it's the 50 proof kind.

I think the best incident with freaks was when I got gas at the same place (I started to dread going there wondering what lunatic I'd encounter next) and I go to pull out of the place and visibility is limited so you HAVE to pull out to see a bit, and some dude on a bike comes up as I'm waiting for the traffic and he had a bone to pick apparently so rather than ride around me 5 feet and go on his merry way he's screaming and swearing at me for existing apparently. I was so shocked I had no clue what his issue was. I was like wow there really ARE a lot of deranged weirdos out there I wonder how many of them moonlight as axe killers.

I work closer to the downtown area of the city now, when I worked in the suburbs I never saw any of this, as the freaks are too lazy to walk/ride their bike/take the bus to the suburbs to annoy others.

I moved here a few years ago from a smaller city, where people actually understood a stop sign means stop, not maybe slow down and look before you plow through it if it's not too much of an inconvenience for you, and one of the things I noticed right away about the bigger city environment is they don't even look at you here and the look on their faces they have for strangers is they wish you'd have been in the WTC on 9/11 and what the hell do you want from them anyway. I didn't understand it then and it kind of freaked me out. Now unfortunately I FULLY understand where they are coming from and I find myself feeling the same way as I encounter life's weirdo losers. Sad but true. I wonder if I really want to live long term in the big city.

For people like that I have zero tolerance.

I work HARD I mean HARD to be where I am today. I take the 'no prisoners' attitude towards lowlife and lazy people. Cmon, get you ass off the ground and WORK. For those who feel I should be more tolerant, I say 'pffft'. I have driven to the welfare line to offer people CASH for an honest day's work. What do I get from that offer? YES you got it... a mouthful of swearwords and an fistfull of middle fingers.

From that moment on, I have ZERO pitty for welfare lowlifes. Do I have a good heart, yes. That's why IF I do decide to donate,, it's usually a heavy load of pennies. Go to work lazy ass. Count, roll and cash them in. There is NO free ride.

A lot of you people seem very decent so it is a good thing to be able to see that there are decent folks out there, and it's not all just crazy jerks.
