ATT DSL, UVerse, billing, etc

Postby FutureBillionaire » Mon May 13, 2013 12:47 pm

I complained on twitter about something ATT related a while back. Their customer service team contacted me to make things better. I supposedly signed up for a promotion that was going to have me sign a 1 year contract and pay 10 bucks less a month.

My next two bills after that call were HIGHER than any other bill I've had with ATT. The first month I shrugged it off (uncharacteristically), but the second month I got back onto twitter. I played phone tag with their team again until I reached a customer rep in a foreign office this past Friday.

The lady kept telling me that the higher price was the new promotion. I told her that she could go fly a kite. After tiring of her incompetence, I escalated to a supervisor.

The supervisor had an accomodating tone from the beginning. I explained my situation and displeasure. She offered me a promotion for 25.95 a month to upgrade from DSL to Uverse. Once I understood that I couldn't have combined billing with my dish network anymore, I was hesitant. She offered to 0 out my account balance by issuing additional credits to the credits already issued by the first rep. (I had no clue.)

Long story short, I ended up going from a 51 dollar a month plan and a 160 something dollar dish/att bill to a $77 credit balance and a 25.95 plan. I'm sure that they are going to screw something up, but I'm pleased with the results so far. I will post more about my adventure after my appointment to install Uverse happens tomorrow.

Wow. Keep us posted. AT&T do make mistakes, from time to time. I recently returned from a trip to Canada where my partner and I (on a family shared plan) added international roaming minutes/data packages to cover my usage whilst up there.

Our bill ended up being twice the amount we expected, even taking into consideration the added packages etc. After a not-so-quick-but-pleasant-call, they realized their errors and not only corrected the amount due, but waived an entire additional month free!
