HaHa! This makes me laugh and I am a woman!

Ive actually bought a few purses for my girlfriend in the past that she still uses till today.. Probably because theye all been ones that shes previously said she wanted. (only one wasnt). Anyways, I feel like the whole purfume, jewelry thing is a little played out. Ive got her a few pieces of jewelry before that she wears but shes not a huge jewelry woman, and ive probably bought her like 10 purfumes in the course of out relationship. Me and my family plan on going to Florida sometime in May and its 99% sure that shes going to go with us. I was thinking about buying her plane ticket but I dont know how that works as far as switching flight times or even days? Also shes graduating college the week before christmas so I have to take that into consideration for her gift so Im open to more expensive gifts.

I feel like it is easy and cheap to change flight info with Southwest.

Concert tix and spa days are good gifts.

Might as well buy me some bread and ham so I can make sandwiches in the kitchen...right?

Anyways, I actually don't mind receiving purses. I can be picky and may not like the purse, but its the thought that counts, IMO. I personally love receiving giftcards to my favorite stores. But nowadays I'm just like "buy me a cocktail..."

Cheap and easy to what extent to change flight info? She actually already got me concert tickets to the only concert comming up that we wanted to go to. I guess I shouldve been quicker and got them for her :)

Does your girlfriend have hobbies? Are there any supplies/tools/things that would help out with that?

Ever since high school, I've kept a list of books I'd love to read, and pass on the titles to people who ask, "What do you want?" Since they tend to be pretty obscure, it's easier to buy them than to interlibrary loan them. I know your girlfriend is probably up to her ears in mandatory reading right now, but it's still a thought.

You mentioned you already got tickets to a concert. You're in Chicago-- are there any sporting events? theater events? not normally on your radar that you could make an out-of-the-ordinary evening out of? Symphony, hockey, touring plays or musicals, baseball, local community theater, something-- pair it with dinner at a nice place before, and/or dessert at a nicer place afterwards.

Lush is pretty popular with a lot of my female friends. They sell handmade cosmetics-- lotions, bath bombs, massage bars, etc.

If all else fails, something "usable" is nice-- something edible, or an experience, or something that gets used up. That way, it won't just sit and gather dust.

Just a quick note on purses,

Bought my ex a 1500+ salvatore ferragamo purse, the color and style she wanted and it was perfect for about a week. Then i never saw it again and whenever i asked, she would fish it out and use it for the night. Get them a giftcard or better yet get her a picture of a hideous one and say that it was the best one you could find and would she either like it or to go and pick whichever one she would actually like with her. Thats what i did the second christmas and worked like a charm. She was still using it months after we broke up and i feel like i got my money's worth, in various forms of repayment ;)
