Anyone use store layaway?

Postby circle_k » Mon Oct 29, 2012 2:18 pm

Anyone use store layaway? I never have and was wondering if I was missing something, I know someone who did all their Christmas shopping already and have everything on layaway. So I was just curious if anyone here uses store layaway, where and why. I seriously don't know the answer to this, but I make the assumption that layaway is completely different than qualifying for store credit.

I don't go for the 15% off offers when you open a store charge account or extended warranty offers either. I did fall for a Sears charge card back in 1994, but they closed my favorite store and I never used it so at some point they cancelled it, never had a store charge since. Never been to a rent-to-own place and will not do the no payment, no interest for 18 months either. My dad was always, if you don't want my money today, we don't do business today and I see myself turning into my dad.

no layaway for me, sorry but I am not gonna buy something with a 5-10% or maybe more I don't really know, extra charged on so I can make "small spread out payments for my benefit" for things that people may or may not return or not even use after I give it to them. If I don't have enough money to buy it right away then I am not buying it.

sounds to me like another disguised form of drawn out credit

Just as stated above, this sounds like another form of disguised credit balance. If there was no additional charges then I would do it to secure the goods. But as it stands, its like buying on your credit card and making a minimum payment.
