Where do you work?

Postby Rory » Tue Oct 23, 2012 1:56 pm

Or, conversely, where would you like to work? be sure to include position/title if known.

I currently work in the healthcare world, a recent switch from the service industry.

I would like to eventually work at McKinsey and Co. as a strategic consultant after i graduate from college and make it into consulting

looking forward to hearing from you guys,

FYI being retired doesnt count towards a future or current job, however golf enthusiast does

I work in a small law firm in Colorado. They brought me in to handle collections and litigation. We also do a lot of trusts and wills. I'm pretty happy where I am right now and don't plan to move in the near future.

I'm currently in the service industry, and work for a chain restaurant as a host/cashier/server. I want to become a highway patrol officer when they start hiring again (always been a dream of mine.) or I want to go into real estate later on.

I'm also in the service industry as well, working as a supervisor. I'm in my senior year of college; hoping to land a decent paying job soon after graduation.

@Snowman I'm interested in law enforcement as well. Are you specifically looking to be a CHP officer? There are lots of other law enforcement agencies hiring in the LA area if you're interested.

Sak- Yup, my dream job is to work for the CHP, my best friend's dad growing was a chippie (motor officer), and he always talked about how much he loved the job, and the dangers of the job, my friends dad later got promoted and they moved down to San Diego. I've been on a few ride-alongs as well and I would have to say I can imagine myself doing it and think it would be the right career for me. And I know there are a lot of law enforcements agencies that are hiring and frankly I'm not really interested in that type of law enforcement, but I'm not interested in lateraling either, and as much as I respect them and what they do, I like the CHP more. And the thing is, is that they do not accept laterals, you have to start all the way from the beginning steps of the hiring process to come on board. But yeah, I really hope they start hiring again soon, in the not so distant future.

Nice, that's cool. I did not know CHP does not accept laterals; true dedication right there. I wish you the best of luck! I'm sure they will start hiring whenever you feel like you're ready to apply. ;) Hopefully you won't be stationed somewhere random like...Alpine County or something. lol

Actually I wouldn't mind that area. Beautiful place in the winter time. But I heard many that graduate from the academy end up going to the Bay area or Southern California. I personally want to go to Southern California (West LA, or my hometown) and then I want to transfer somewhere remote like the Central Valley or Barstow. Are you in California by any chance? And thank you! I hope to become one of them one day.

Ah, makes sense most recruits get placed in the busiest areas. I imagine that it would serve as great training area too with all the different type of calls. I am from Washington state, but I know California very well because I have family and friends in both the Bay Area and SoCal. I'll actually be in LA in 1.5 weeks from now...going to spend so much money, but I won't go over my credit limits lol! I love California, I definitely want to relocate there soon.
